Forgive me, but I've wanted to post this story forever. It's going to probably be one of my favorites. So, yeah. It's a little weird, but I think you people may like it. Enjoy.

P.S: Thanks to my friend Sammy for letting me use his picture for the cover. He's also in the story, just not yet. So, yeah, thanks hun(:

Chapter One

“Lie to thee,

To make you see;

I really wish I wasn’t me.”

                                    - Kayleigh Katastrophy

            “Don’t mess with me.” Nathaniel grinned ear to ear as he said this, out loud to himself, and in front of the whole town of followers, begging to spill his blood.

            “Burn in hell!” The mob shouted, ranting and raving as if it would help any. Nathaniel couldn’t help but laugh at that. Burn in hell? He was already there. But Nathaniel Lewis Kanin was patient, gritting his teeth as the mob chanted just that. He couldn’t lose his cool…yet anyway.

            Hands clasped firmly in front of him, he sighed. “I really don’t understand you, oh dear town of mine. Why must you shun me so? I only accomplished what you all wish you could – to kill, spill the blood of the rich men who have sinned, cheating on their wives, eating until their fat flooded hearts stopped, selling out peasants for money, you name it, they’ve done it. I’m not a monster, despite the rumors.”

            One woman in the crowd, clearly a peasant of sorts by the way she dressed, was brave. “You should talk about such! You, being the devil himself reincarnated. You, being a rich fellow yourself, how dare you! We shall burn you at the stake yet.”

            “And what would that prove?” Nathaniel inquired, “That I’m a witch, which I am not? That is utterly pathetic, if I do say so, my good lady. I am not a witch, not the devil reincarnated. I am something so much greater and lesser of the sorts. I am something this worthless town has ever seen.” This was a bold move on his part, leading them on. They already had him up there, on that blasted pedestal, the hanging tree behind him and a rope clamped around his neck. And yet, he felt as though the townsfolk he had spared deserved a clue as to what was happening in their town. It was not something anyone could have imagined. For, Nathaniel wasn’t a witch or the devil himself. No, that would be foolish to think so.

            Nathaniel was a demon.

            Not given a choice, his fate given to him at birth. He had been born into the world of Hell, never once having the option of Heaven or the amazing people who roamed at its gates, waiting to be invited in, which they were granted frivolously. Only at certain occasions was Heaven not open: in the case of people that killed people, or took their own lives. Anything to do with death. Because, death was not accepted up there in LaLa Land.

            While Nathaniel and his family thrived on death.

            He had always known not to fool around in one place for too long, but something was about to happen to this dear town, of which the name escaped him. An angel was about to be born, secretly disguised as a human. And it was up to Nathaniel to do as his father instructed, to kill the angel baby before it knew of it’s insane powers. So far, nothing. No baby, no magical beings, besides himself, that was. Nothing. And soon, the good people of the town had found him guilty of murdering many men and women and children. But, they didn’t know what it was like, to be stuck on the doomed planet he very much envied, to need and stay alive on the flesh of humans. To want to be fully capable of feeling mortal emotions, to be graced with the presence of a beauty so impalpable, he would have to shield his eyes at the sight.
