"Yeah, hon, I'll be back later. John and I are going to go try and find inspiration for his new song." Alex calls out before closing the door behind him. He smiles at me. "Are you ready for this 'song inspiration?'"

I roll my eyes slightly. "Alex, I've already been looking for song inspiration. That was a lame excuse, you know."

"Shut up and let's get back to your place already." He chuckles softly, starting to walk in the direction.

I look over at him, watching as he walked away. "Oh, right, my luxurious motel room." I say sarcastically, following after him.

We keep a safe distance from each other as we walk. We didn't want anyone to see us and assume something between the two of us. I look around, listening to the sounds of the honking horns, the loud phone conversations, and just the overall buzz of the city.

"I forgot how much I missed this city. I guess it's true you never know how good you have it until you leave." I say.

Alex nods. "Yeah, I get the feeling."

I smile at him for a moment and then gasp. "Alex, that's it! That's what my song is going to be about." I pull out my phone to type in my notes real quick. He looks up at me with a curious look.

"What? New York City?" He asks.

"No. Well, kind of. Just like, being home." I say, starting to type out what I had in my mind. "Let's see.. Um.. I had to go away to see how good it really was." I try to put that into a rhythm in my head and then shake my head, putting my phone away. "Eh, I'll work out the kinks later, at least now I have something."

"Cool, what are you going to call it?" Alex asks, smiling up at me.

I pause and think. "Hm.. What about.. The Streets of New York?" I ask, looking over at him for approval.

He shakes his head. "Uh, politely, no. That wouldn't fit in your album very well."

I chuckle and nod. "Alright, I'll admit, that was pretty bad. I'll figure it out after I write more of the lyrics. But for now," we arrive at the door of my temporary home and I open it for him. "After you."

He smiles quite a bit and walks in, and we do our best to stay composed until we reach my room. And then, well, you know.

The little lies continued on and on for pretty much the entire time I was in New York, which now has been three weeks. I wasn't sure when I was going to go back to LA, I just knew my manager wanted it to be soon. She had been texting me nonstop.

Boss Lady When the hell are you coming back to Los Angeles? Your fans are going to start losing interest if you don't come back with that new song fast.

Boss Lady Also, that new Jefferson kid is going to start stealing your spotlight soon. Your fans love his rap game.

Me I haven't even started on the song yet, but I think something should be coming together soon. Was just trying to tie up some loose ends while I was here. And Jefferson isn't even good, I'm not worried about him stealing my fans.

Boss Lady Well, tie them up faster. I'm giving you one more week to figure this out before I come to New York and bring you back here myself. You were only supposed to be gone for a little bit.

Me Understood.

Me But could you maybe make it two more weeks? I should have a great song by then.

Boss Lady I give you a week and a half, final offer. You have that fundraising concert two weeks from today, remember?

Me Week and a half it is, then. Thank you!
