I stare out the window of the taxi cab as we move about five miles an hour. I did not miss the traffic in New York City, I'll admit that. But I did miss Alex when I was gone. And now I'll have to miss him all over again.

But this was better anyway, I needed to go back to do this, right? Right.

I look over at Carrie, who was on the phone with multiple people. Most likely more publicity people, trying to find something else to take the heat off of me for a little bit. She was pretty damn good at her job.

I sigh and she glances at me.

"Hold on, Hailey, I'll call you back." She says, hanging up the phone. She looks over at me. "Alright, John, time to talk about this."

"Talk about what?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"You've been gloomy since we left the hotel. You know why you have to go back to LA, right?"

"Of course I do. And I'm not gloomy, I'm just fine." I say before mumbling, "Work comes first."

She sighs. "John, this is not what I wanted for you. If you're not going to be happy making music over in LA, why are you doing it?"

"I will be happy, as soon as I finish this album and get people off my back." I tell her. "Trust me, I'm okay with this."

She frowns. "John-"

"No, Carrie, just drop it. I'm fine, okay?"

She nods. "Okay, if you say so." She looks at her phone and then soon resumes to her phone calls, leaving the conversation at that.

I was fine, I didn't need anyone telling me I wasn't. Alex will be alright, and so will I.

Alex's POV

I hated this.

John was on his way to the airport right now, and I was just letting it happen.

But what else could I do? I couldn't stop him from doing what he needed to do. I couldn't tank his career for my own selfish reasons.

I look around my apartment. Eliza's stuff was all boxed up around me, as she was coming over to pick it up. Getting her stuff together for her was the least I could do after what I've done.

There was a knock on my door and I sigh and get up, knowing it was her. I walk over, opening the door and offering a sympathetic smile. "Hi, Elizabeth."

She sucks in a breath and nods curtly. "Alexander."

I step aside and let her into the room, and she looks around. "Oh, you didn't have to pack everything for me."

"It's the least I could do." I say. "Besides, I had nothing better to do."

She nods slowly. "I saw that John was on his way back to LA." She says, making her way to a box across the room.

I sigh and nod. "Yup. He's on his way to save his career, and I'm here."

She picks up the box and looks over at me. "Why are you still here? I mean, you should have left with him or something." She tells me.

I raise an eyebrow at her. "Um, I'm the reason his career is in jeopardy right now, there's no way I could go back with him." I explain.

"Okay, then why did you let him leave?" She asks, being as persistent as ever.

"I- What? I can't ask that of him-"

"Tell me, did he ask to see you before he left?" She takes the box outside and I sigh and grab a box, following after her.
