[ leo valdez x oc ]LEO WAS NERVOUS.
His fingers trembled as he leant against the back of the Hephaestus cabin, running his fingers through his hair desperately. He was beginning to wonder whether he had done something wrong by calling her out here.
A gust of wind brushed past him, instinctively a flame materialised in the palm of his hand, sending waves of heat throughout his body. The dark brown curls of his hair were messy, he had been rolling in his bed prior to this moment.
"Leo, Hi." a voice said from behind him, completely snapping him out of his misery. He spun around abruptly, a smile forming on his lips just at the sight of Lizzie.
She stood there, still and motionless, but she still looked beautiful. The sliver of moonlight illuminated her, Lizzie looked like a goddess.
Her black hair shone, it reached to her mid back. Her pale green eyes glimmered in the minimal light, his own reflection dancing in her coloured irises. She looked tired, light bags under her eyes from sleepless nights.
He gave her a little wave, reaching forward to take her hand in his. Warmth invaded her cold hand, the chills leaving her body although Leo's stayed. They stood next to each other, shoulder to shoulder, against his cabin.
"I'm sorry." she mumbled with a sigh, "I swear I didn't forget, I just fell asleep."
Leo snorted and she glared at him, nudging him in the ribs harshly. Nonetheless, he slipped his hand back in hers, giving it a soft squeeze. He couldn't help but find it funny that the daughter of Hypnos, was apologising for falling asleep.
"That was painful." he mumbled, rubbing his side with his free hand, "You shouldn't do that, I might just burn you on accident."
She scoffed, "You love me too much, you would never."
Leo's smile faltered, "Yeah, I do, don't I."
An awkward tension fell over them. Leo sighed, this wasn't what he wanted. He just wasn't good with words like he was with machines.
Leo kissed Lizzie, after weeks of overwhelming tension between them. They had argued non-stop, flirted and had a great time together but Leo was just her best friend, nothing more, nothing less.
Leo remembered the day they had met. It was the worst and the best day of his life.
"Annabeth." Percy began, poking her in the stomach, "Ask me why I love you."
Annabeth sighed, putting down her book and looking at him, "Why do you love me, Seaweed Brain?"
"Because you and I match like seaweed and uh brains?"
Leo snorted, "That's so bad."
Percy glared at him, "You think of something good!"
"You and I match like horses and chariots?" Leo said then grinned, "Besides, calling you a horse is pretty accurate."
Annabeth let out a laugh and Percy glared at him. Leo's grin widened and he left the room in a hurry. He found himself at the tables for dinner soon enough.
"Percy! No—."
"You called me a horse!"
Lizzie, who was sitting minding her own business, half-asleep, was shoved roughly to the right, Leo landing right beside her.
"Hey sleepy." he grinned. He pushed a strand of her hair out of her face, "Sorry 'bout that."
Lizzie rubbed her eyes aggressively, "Who are you—."
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" Leo exclaimed when Percy stumbled towards them. His hand, which was close to her food, lit on fire and she let out a yelp, "Oh shit—."
He quickly parted out the flames and pushed Percy off him, "Truce! Poor her, her innocent food on flames because of grumpy Percy."
"Not helping Leo." Percy muttered.
"Go, leave let me hang out with my best friend." Leo grinned.
He turned to Lizzie, "Hi."
The kiss was about a week ago, he had been in despair for days because she hadn't spoken to him. Out of impulse, he sent her a note one night to meet him.
That, was where they were right now.
"Leo—."
Leo cut her off, "Lizzie, I have literally known you for like a year or something and I really like you and I didn't mean to kiss you. I mean, I did mean to kiss you and I liked that kiss—."
"Shut up, Valdez." she mumbled, cupping his jaw tightly with her hand and kissed him.
The wind was knocked out of his lungs, his eyes widened but his lips spread into a smile. He could smell her scent ; Lavender. One of his hands curled around her waist while the other caressed her cheek softly.
He pulled away, their foreheads touching. Their noses rubbed against each other, his heat radiating off him.
"That was a nice kiss." Leo commented.
He wanted to kiss her again, pull her close and okay with her hair. She liked how warm he was and how safe she felt with him. She was the daughter of the sleep god, she slept all the time but she had never felt like this.
She laughed, "Shut up, Valdez."
"Liz," Leo began.
"Mhm."
"Do you want to be the girlfriend to my boyfriend?" he asked, cocking his head to the side.
She smiled, "Obviously. Sorry I ran the other day. I-I panicked."
He shook his head slightly, "Nah, it's all good."
He pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, he brushed his finger under her eyes, squinting slightly. A frown appeared on his lips.
"You haven't been sleeping."
Lizzie sighed but smiled, "You weren't the only one restless after that kiss."
"But your the daughter of a sleep god. How do you..not sleep?"
"You're that important in my life." she chuckled.
"That's a first." he laughed.
"You'll always be important in my life, even if you annoy me." Lizzie mumbled. She took his hands in his, curling her pinky around his, "I promise."
He smeared a kiss on her forehead, pulling her close to him, "Come on sleepy head, let's get you to bed."
She rubbed her eyes and nodded, "Please."
