Amelia sighed when leant nearer to her window. Her hair was messy and her brown eyes were dull. The sky was inky, splatters of stars scattered carelessly amongst it ; she swear she could see some of them dotted in the shape of a -- you know what? Doesn't matter.
She was just existing, not living, existing.
Amelia brushed a strand of her hair away, letting her gaze fall onto the lake that was situated near her school. She was at boarding school currently, stressed out of her mind because school. She furrowed her brows suspiciously when she spotted a figure hunched near the lake. Amelia could hardly make out the silhouette since it was extremely dark. But she could see the flash of blond hair and knew instantly that it was Elliot.
"Water's not cold?" she mumbled, slipping onto the log beside him.
Elliot's body jumped, but he turned and calmed when he saw her. He ran his hands through his hair with a blank look and shrugged. Amelia dipped her feet in the water too, nodding and answering her own question, "Yep, cold."
Elliot brought his fingers to his lips and it was only then Amelia spotted he had a cigarette between his fingers. She raised an eyebrow, "You smoke?"
"Nah, just sucking it." he replied candidly.
Amelia rolled her eyes and shoved her elbow into his ribs. He let out a chuckle, "Yeah, sometimes."
"What about the shit you said last summer?" Amelia asked, glancing at him. He turned to look at her, his blue eyes catching under the moon light. He wrinkled his nose, suggesting for her to give him more information.
"Smoking is bad for your lungs. You could die Amelia!" she mocked.
His lips curled slightly at her tone, "Yeah but..."
He didn't continue his sentence and Amelia scoffed. Their hands were brushing and she was beginning to get cold since it was early December and almost past midnight.
"Yeah but what?"
"Nothing."
Amelia grinned as an idea popped in her head. She leant closer to him, ignoring the way flames shot through the pit of her stomach when the warmth of his body wavered through her. Elliot turned to look at her but she fished the tube out of his hands before he could comprehend what was happening.
"Hey!He-Mellie. No." he exclaimed, turning towards her.
Amelia grinned, pushing the cigarette away from him, "Uh uh uh, if it's nothing then you won't mind when I smoke."
His eyebrow creased and he shook his head aggressively, leaning forwards so much that his body was practically pressing onto hers. Their faces were inches away from each other and she still had the cigarette in her fingers. She moved it towards her face, looking away when Elliot tried to snatch it out of her fingers. She inhaled and start coughing.
