Maiden

Oh! fair Maiden lying on the ocean floor..

Derelict in the dungeons deep
torn at her heart where the hull gave away
Did the oceans tease?
Mocked her pride when she dared and defied?
For the menace of the waves scorned her valorous might
Prayers arose under the starlight
Dauntless until chaos rocked
When darkness reigned her fear throbbed
Were there laments heard under the unlit sky?
Did wails harmonize the melodies played?
Was love confessed as the waters rose?
The oceans triumphed in peril of her prime
She drowned in a sea of tears that night
Weighed down by her own tonnage
She sank with an unfinished voyage
with tales unsaid
treasures never found
memories buried deep
and dreams carried away with the tide

Under the starlight, beneath dark, serene waters, she lies,

forgotten in her demise.
