Sans POV

I woke up to a strange pull in my soul. "wha..?" It felt familiar, like a soulmate... pull.. My head snapped up and swiveled to where the pull lead. It was her.. Dr. [Y/N].. Oh my stars.. I internally panicked as it settled on me that my SOULMATE was my DOCTOR. A yellow blush consumed my face and I hid under my blankets. She'd seen the worst in me, oh stars that's so embarrassing and there's no way she'd EVER feel the same! How was it that I was so out of it that I never noticed the pull before anyway, I mean this is a HUGE deal- "Sans?" Oh stars she's awake! My soul picked up its pace and pulled again in yearning. "hm?" I poked my head out from under the covers. "What are you doing?" She asked and I tried to force back my rising blush. "uh.. skeleton.. tradition..?" She gave an (adorable) amused smile. "Uh-huh. And I assume you just remembered this 'skeleton tradition' since I've never seen you do it before? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were trying to hide~" She teased. "yep-" She laughed at my high pitched answer.

As we went to the cafeteria for breakfast, I couldn't help but wonder what Papyrus would have thought of her. At the thought of my dead brother, my soul throbbed. She took notice instantly. "Sans, you ok?" Sometimes I seriously wonder if humans have the pull too. "i'm fine." I replied, not wanting to worry her. To little to late, she was already worried. "Thinking about him?" It didn't take a genius to know who he was. "um, well yeah, but i'll be ok-" She hugged me, making me blush. "I'm sorry Sans, that was insensitive of me to ask.." She was taking my feelings into consideration and it was making my soul go nuts. "h-heh. i-i'll be ok.. i mean, i really, really miss him, but... i'm gonna be ok. pap wouldn't have wanted me to sulk around. he'd want me to live my life. so i'm trying.." I explained. She looked.. proud? Was that the word? Either way, she was also relieved and I preferred that over negative emotions on her lovely features.

"Dr. [L/N]!" Dr. Toriel and Dr. Alphys were in the cafeteria when we came in. "It's been a few days, we were getting worried, especially with the rukus that happened."
"W-we couldn't f-find a spare... w-what happened?" Alphys asked. I chuckled embarrassed. "eh. that was my fault... heh. learning that your brother was dead the entire time isn't exactly the best news to hear... sorry for scaring ya.." I apologized, glancing between the ladies. Toriel and Alphys went dead silent while [Y/N] smiled with that look in her eyes. "Rest assured, it will be fine. I've already fixed everything up. How about we eat, hm?" I nodded. "sounds good. see ya ladies later." I waved and followed my- [Y/N] to the food line. I nearly growled at myself for even thinking of using the term 'mate'. She wasn't even aware of his feelings toward her and I DEFINITELY don't know her feelings about me. If I'm going to try this out, I'm going to have to take it slow. Maybe a compliment here, a flirt there. What am I kidding, I don't know how to flirt! I internally groaned. I'm gonna have to wing it. Operation Checkmate is a go.
