The Girl From My Past

Kohaku

Natsuki's POV

After the test, I was finally free to go home and take a break before going back to the feudal era. But my cousin wanted to cook something special and we had to buy some groceries. When we were back, pigeons were around the house.

"I heard you were going to cook a special meal so I brought some stuff!" Inuyasha said.

We told him to take them back and started to cook, but before that my aunt let out a scream.

"There's a cockroach!!!" she pointed at the insect in the kitchen. Inuyasha took out Tessaiga and did the attack but he didn't realized he destroyed part of the house.

When we returned to the feudal era, the sky was dark, something was happening...

Inuyasha carried us to the village, the house of miss Kaede was destroyed. We got in and found Miroku and Sango unconscious, I could also see Jaken and Rin. I hold Rin in my arms and asked Jaken what happened. He said that someone named Magatsuhi was controlling Kohaku's body and escaped.

Inuyasha and Kagome went to find Kohaku. I kept an eye on Miroku and Rin with Kaede, but I was more worried about Sango. She woke up and insisted in finding Kohaku, but she was way too injured. I left the house and went after Sango.

"Sango, I think you should stay with Miroku, he needs you" I said to her.

She looked down. "I have to find Kohaku"

I sighed, well at least I tried. "I know, but at least go and check on him before we leave" I gave her a smile.

"We?"

"I'm going with you, I'm not leaving you alone..."

She gave a small smile and nodded.

While she went back to Kaede's house, I decided to go and ask Kaede for Kazuko's sword if she knew where Inuyasha left it. Then, went to get some knives and a rope. Luckily, I was wearing something more comfortable, I was tired of wearing skirts so I decided to wear something different.

I felt something rubbing against my back, I turned around and it was Kirara.

"I know Kirara, I'm also worried about Kohaku" I rubbed her head softly. "We'll find him and bring him back" I said.

Sango found us. "Ready?" she asked, I nodded.

We got in Kirara's back and flew to where Kohaku was. When we arrived, Kohaku had that scary look, this person was not Kohaku, it was Magatsuhi.

"Let him go!!!" Sango yelled.

"It's useless trying to wake him up, he'll die if he does" Magatsuhi said.

Kazuko I need you, what can we do to save Kohaku? He doesn't deserve this... please, give me a sign...

Kohaku woke up and now he was hanging from his weapon! What the hell?!?!...

And now he let go... WAIT WHAT?!?!?

"KID YOU ARE CRAZY!!!!"

My instincts took control over me and I jumped to the bottom of the cliff, trying to reach Kohaku. I heard Sango yell my name.

"Natsuki!!!"

I was able to hold him, but a tentacle grabbed my foot and we were being pulled up.

"Sango cut the tentacle!!!" I yelled.

Sango did what I said and we were free but Magatsuhi appeared and more of those tentacles got us.

"Lord Sesshomaru!!!" Kohaku yelled.

I looked at where Sesshomaru was. He used his sword to destroy the tentacles and Sango caught us.

"Thanks Sango" I said to her.

"No thanks to you for protecting Kohaku" she said.

Oh wait!!

Sesshomaru could've destroyed Magatsuhi, but of course he wasn't dead, he escaped instead.

"Sesshomaru, Miroku and Rin are injured for the poison of Magatsuhi!" I said to him.

He tensed up and flew away. We were going to follow him but I heard my cousin scream.

"Let her go Naraku!" Inuyasha yelled.

"Inuyasha, the pearl is located in his right shoulder!!!" Kagome yelled, but Naraku choked her enough to make her lose conscious.

Inuyasha used the technique of the red sword and destroyed the shield, then Sango used her boomerang to destroy his right arm. He used more of his tentacles to push Sango away and make her fall. Luckily, Inuyasha caught her. 

"Naraku stop!!" Kohaku yelled. "If I give you my fragment, would you free miss Kagome?" Naraku nodded. "Yes"

He grabbed Kohaku to take the fragment, but Kohaku used an arrow to stab his shoulder. The light in the arrow was purifying the pearl, the figure of someone behind Kohaku was the owner of that power...

Kikyo!!!...

Naraku was injured and tried to escape with Kagome but Inuyasha destroyed his body completely to free her. Sango and I went to find Kohaku hanging from a rock.

We reunited with Inuyasha and Kagome. I instantly hugged Kohaku, I was happy that he was safe and now he could stay with his sister.

Wait... it's not over...

I turned around and saw the tentacles still moving.

"Kohaku stay back!" I said and put my body in front of him.

The tentacle went through my left shoulder to Kohaku's neck.

It happened so fast, everything was in slow motion, I saw his body slowly collapsing. I hold him before he touched the ground.

"Kohaku!!!" Sango yelled.

I checked his neck and it was gone... the fragment was not there...

I looked up seeing how the fragment was going to the sky towards Naraku who then disappeared once again.

I started to cry... I couldn't protect Kohaku... I failed... it was my fault he died...

"Natsuki, are you ok?" Kagome knelt down next to me trying to check my wound. I couldn't stop staring at Kohaku's lifeless body.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry... Sango, I'm so sorry..." I said in sobs.

It happened the same thing with Kazuko... I didn't protect her, I could've saved her... Sango lost his brother because of me...

"I'm sorry Kohaku..." I whispered.

The sun was rising, Sango continued hugging his brother and I kept blaming myself. Why do I keep saying I'm going to protect my beloved ones? I promised that to Kazuko and she died, I tried to do the same thing to Kohaku and he's dead too!! Maybe I should leave... I don't belong here... everybody is dying because I'm weak... I'm just a human... I can't do anything...

Suddenly light covered Kohaku's body and then, his eyes opened. Sango cried from happiness and continued hugging Kohaku. Kohaku smiled and cried, then he looked at me.

"Thanks for trying to protect me" he said. I nodded and hugged him.
