10. Penny

Laylah POV:

"Douxie, Laylah where is the Arcane Order?" Jim asked us

Barbara walked over to Jim in concern 

"Jim, you're hurt!" 

"They're about to summon the Titans!" Jim insists

"Did you see where they are?"

"It was dark" Douxie starts putting his hand on his forehead

"Someplace circular" I add putting a hand on Douxie's shoulder

"That narrows it down" Archie announces

"There were seven large doors, and rails on the ground" I continue 

"Rails, rails" Douxie says

"Circular. It's a roundhouse. A switching station for locomotives. That gives us something to go on"

"Yes. Over 3000 somethings in North America alone" Krel smiles

"Or I can lock on to Nari and portal us there" Claire smiles 

"Um, uh..." Everyone stutters

 "I can do that you know" She remarks

I stare at Claire and give her a wink as I fold my arms. She winks back. 

We walk through the shadow portal and we land in a dark place.

"AHHHHHHHH" We all scream with our weapons. 

"Where are they?" Toby says looking around

"I connected to her. She should be right here, along with..." 

Claire looks at me. She wasn't really sure how to put it 

"The other two parts of me" I sigh

"She's right. The bricks, the masonry. It's the right place, just..." Douxie says looking around. 

"We don't have time to guess. Everyone, start searching. We have to find them" Jim says ordering everyone.

"Guys, guys!" Toby shrieks

"What? What is it?" Krel yells

"I found a penny!" He smiles

I slap my head across my face. This was so like Toby 

"Ai-yai-yai" Krel sighs

"I'm afraid they're not here" Aja explains

"But they were here" I protest

"Bloody balroths, the train tracks. Maybe they still are" Douxie realises 

"They didn't leave this place. It's an illusion" 

"Just as the amulet mechanizes an incantation, the train tracks..."

"The train tracks. Look, they're a sigil. A giant mechanical invocation" 

Douxie runs up onto a small wooden platform. And uses his magic bracelet to move the tracks to the side. 

Toby was standing in the middle of the train tracks and he wobbled back and forth. 

"Oh, no, no! My penny!" Toby squirms but Krel pulls him away. 

"See? It is a sigil" 

"Get ready" Douxie says pointing up to the hole opening up at the top of the roof. 

I felt a sharp pain in my heart go over me. I fall over and clutch my chest and whimper in pain.

Douxie runs over to me

"Laylah!"
