Ice cream and moon filled regrets

Their taunts dance around one other in a carefree way. One in denial, the other in hope. They were the perfect duo in everyone's eyes but each other's, yet no one spoke a word. It's better to let these things happen naturally, you know.

Late night escapades and early morning wake up calls seemed to be the dynamic, never back to back though. Their personalities seemed to be the polar opposite of their masks, and to was a shock to see that no matter what, they always reflected the best in each other.

Trashcans of hidden flowers and secret doctors notes scattered their rooms. Secrets became more frequent, but their bond was still tight. Late night escapades became more frequent, morning wake up calls became longer. Both were loosing their grip on this world and neither knew it. One day, it became to apparent. One day, he asked her out for ice cream.

He drove, she sang. Music carried them to the parlor they once cried in, and they got their favorite. They walked out laughing, but on the inside it felt like a prison door had closed behind them.
At least their final meal was sweet.

He takes her to a spot he never had before. A place he knew well, as a child, and now seeing it through the eyes of an adult, it felt so much dimmer. The world was truly brighter through the eyes of the innocent. Yet as her eyes reflected in the moonlight, it showed that same childlike wonder. He tried to see it too.

The hill was big, but not to big. The car was left abandoned at the base, and they both climbed, her running, him walking. They lied at the top, watching the night sky illuminate with the stars from the past, and the moon, the guardian of the night. It was a crescent moon, yet it beamed as brightly as a full. He pointed to constellations, and she told stories of the names she recognized. They both would cough from time to time, using the darkness to cover the petals in the high grass.
Until one weakly confessed, in the oddest way.

He was lonely, and he was lonely with her, but not in the way she wished. His hazy mind never understood. He told her stories of his childhood, ending with his own confession, in the form of a proposal.
Fly to the space station with me.

But the coughing had stopped. She had flown too soon. Her note gently brushed his arm, he read it.
"I'll see you in the space station, Saeyoung"

He quietly looked down at his own
"I can be lonely with you, but I'd rather be happy instead"

He simply put his note with hers, and kissed her forehead. She may have flown too soon, but she knew where she was going, and he was right behind her.

The night stilled, the notes fluttered softly in the breeze, but never left. Those two notes would be on their headstones. Their friends would mourn for their loss, but look to the stars when they felt lonely. They lost something, but the stars gained. The two brightest stars in the sky, that seem to dance around each other each night. They had not been there before their friends would argue, and most spend plenty of time stargazing.

To the space station they went, before to the sky they would remain, now watching over others on their darkest nights. Sometimes you're not meant to be in one lifetime, but the next will always reunite you.

The stars were anonymously named after the two lovers, making their own constellation.
What an odd name, "Lonely Station". Couldn't imagine why.
