Summary: You find out Peter is Spider-Man after a previous encounter trying to help Spider-Man.

It wasn't every day that you decided to walk into an alleyway. Technically you wouldn't even think of doing that to get home, but you were in desperate need to lay on your bed and let your eyes rest after a very long day.
The shortcut wasn't even that dangerous. All you had to do was walk by a bunch of brick-walled houses and some dumpsters before reaching the next two streets over without having to wait for the red light to turn green. It was that simple.
But of course, your day couldn't get any simpler.
As you clutched your shoulder strap to readjust it, your eyes widened as you saw a red and blue figure drop from the sky. He hit the dumpster with a loud sound before rolling onto its back, not moving an inch. You yelped and took a closer look to see it was none other than Spider-Man himself.
You stood there for a good minute, taking in the sights in front of you. Spider-Man had seemingly fallen out of nowhere and you were pretty sure he could handle swinging around New York, considering how many YouTube videos you had seen of him.
"Oh my god," you whispered, not knowing what to do. On one hand, you didn't want to get in trouble with Spider-Man or in trouble with the people who were following him-if that was the case. You didn't want to be in trouble with whoever, and you definitely wanted to get home quickly so you could sleep.
On the other hand, you wanted to be a good person. You wanted to help someone out because you had felt so shitty throughout the day. You wanted to feel at least a little better because so far, this day's treated you like shit. Maybe this would be good karma and would earn you some good-karma points in life.
"Screw it," you said before bending down and tapping on his shoulder. Nothing. You shook his shoulder gently, calling out his name. Nothing. You stood over his body and grasped the edge of his mask with your fingertips, hoping to use the CPR knowledge you learned in health class but stopped. He wears a mask for a reason, right? That probably meant he didn't want his identity known.
But then again, he could be dying. As in, not breathing. You groaned and cursed whoever put you in this situation.
"Okay," you said to Spider-Man's body. "um Spider-Man sir, I'm just gonna take this off so I can help you get better, okay? I won't even take it off completely so I don't have to see your face."
You acknowledged that you were saying this out loud so you could convince yourself that you were doing this for the better.
"Here I go," you said dramatically. As soon as your fingers started to tug on the material, you felt something grab onto your hand, stopping you from what you were doing.
"No one seems to grasp the concept of the mask" grunted the body in front of you, clearly in pain.
You screamed and jumped back, your hands pulling away from the grip of Spider-Man.
"Who are you, why were you trying to remove my mask?" he asked, this time sounding a little more angry.
You gulped. "You see, uh, the thing is that I kind of stumbled upon you walking home."
"What do you mean stumbled?" Spider-Man said as he was now stumbling, trying to stand up.
"As in, you fell out of the sky while I was walking home," you said, "What did I just get myself into?" you whispered to yourself. "I do one good thing and look at me now! It backfired." You rubbed your temple.
"It's great meeting you Spider-sir, unfortunately, I should really get going you said as you grasped onto your backpack and quickly backed away, turning into you running out of the alley

The next day on your way to school, you kept thinking of what happened last night. I mean, come on, you met Spider-Man in an unconventional situation. Not to mention you practically had a small conversation until you ran off.
Your friend Gwen Stacy had her nose in a book when you came into homeroom but she put it down the second you walked it.
"Hey," she said. "I think we're having a pop quiz in math, saw it on the calendar Ms. Ritter left on her desk."
"Another one?" you groaned, sitting back in your seat. "We had two this week. When's she gonna give us a break?"
"I don't know, but I'm ready for this school year to be over," she scoffed.
You contemplated telling her about yesterday's event, but keeping it for yourself seemed to be the best bet.
"Hey guys," said another voice. You looked behind you and saw Peter sitting down beside you. "Did you hear about Ms. Ritter's pop quiz?"
"We were just dying over it," Gwen complained.
"You okay, Peter? You look kind of out of it." Y/n said.
"W-What?" he asked, fixing his posture. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm a little underslept, is all. Guess who didn't start studying," he said changing the subject with a little chuckle.
"Sounds terrible. Hey, do you wanna work on the history project after school?"
"That should be fine," he said. "Aunt May's having some friends over so we're gonna have to go to your place."
"Oh! Uh yeah, that's fine," you said.
"Great. Meet me by the front gate after school?"
You nodded. "You got it."

"This is your room,"
"Yes, this is my room,"
"Books, shoes," Peter pointed out as he put his backpack down.

After a couple of hours of the two of you working on the project, you both called it a day, as Peter was collecting his belongings, you couldn't help but notice a red and black striped spandex mask sticking out of the front pocket of his backpack. That's when you realized, it was the same mask you tugged on as you were trying to help Spider-Man the night before.
"The mask," you said, "So you're Spider-Man?"
"W- what," Peter responded nervously as he was following your gaze "Oh, see the mask, I- uh- I sometimes dress up as Spider-Man to cheer up some kids at the hospital aunt May works at."
"Of course you are, that explains so much." you continued now talking to yourself as you were connecting some lines in your head, while Peter was still trying to convince you otherwise.

After Peter's numerous failed attempts of trying to convince you he's not Spider-Man, he decided to be honest with you, as he was sure his secret would be safe with his best friend who he also had some secret feelings for.
"So...," he trailed off. "I'm Spider-Man."
You laughed. "I kind of pieced that together."
