"Im Home!" I shouted
"How was your day honey?" Mom asked
"The usual"
"Oh okay good, by the way remember your friend Brian?" she asked
"Brian?"
"Yeah Brian Sanders" she said
"Oh Brian! Briannnn.... Mom, I dont know what you're talking about
hahaha" I laughedShe rolled her eyes at me and said
"Brian Sanders our neighbor when we were still at California... Your best friend when you were little.. Ring a bell?""I remember him mom, im just joking haha"
"Oh, okay... Rosie (his mom)
and I were talking and they decided to move here in LA and guess where they're staying...."Mom looked at me with excitement.
I just looked back at her. It's like we were having a staring contest.
I sighed and replied "Where?"
"Remember Mrs. Brooke's?"
"Yeah our neighbor right beside our house" I said
"Well yeah obviously, she's selling their house and I suggested that the Sanders should take it and they did! They will arrive here tomorrow" she said
" Okkaayyy"
I was about to go upstairs when
"Oh and we're having a welcoming party for them tomorrow night. Tell your friends and dress nicely okay?"
"Okay Mom"
I went to my room and thought to myself. Brian Sanders huh. Haven't seen him since I was 10. Im 17 so its been 7 years already. We were best friends, I mean my mom and his mom were good friends and because they were friends we both got to know each other.
When I was 4, mom would arrange a play date with her friends and their children. That was the first time I met Brian.
The two of us were the closest throughout the group. The Sanders lived right across our home so it was easy for Brian and me to play. We would play hide and seek and prince and princess. He would wear this crown made out of cardboard that our mother's made during play date and I would wear the same thing. He would call me princess all the time (which I didn't like for the record) and we would play all afternoon. We even made this handshake when we were 6 that both of us knew.
I was 7 and it was my birthday so Im basically 8. This was the most memorable experience I ever had. So it was my bday and of course there were games, cake, and gifts. My mom and Dad gave me a bicycle and I was so pumped. Then of course it was Brian's turn to give his present.
"What did you get me?" I asked
"Remember when we went to the arcade with our parents and you wanted the big stuffed elephant so badly but we didn't have enough tickets? well... here it is! open it!" he said excitedly
I opened it and there it was. The Big stuffed Elephant!!!!
"Thank you Brian!!!" I said and hugged him.
"You're welcome princess" he said then I let go of him
"Don't call me that"
"Okay"
I was 10 when I heard about the news. We were moving to LA because my Dad got a job there. The news was so sad that when I told Brian he didn't talk to me for days.
Then came the day of our departure. I still haven't talked to Brian. When we were about to leave.
"Wait!"
I turned my back and it was Brian.
"Hi.... ummm.." I said
He looked at me then hugged me.
"Im gonna miss you princess" he said crying"Oh come on its not like we're not gonna see each other again right?"
"Yeahh but I'll still miss you" he replied
"Yeah I'll miss you too"
My Dad honked the horn and Mom called me.
"Come on honey! we got to go" mom said
"So.. umm bye" I said almost crying
"Bye"
We did our handshake and off I go.
I was at the back seat of the car as I was waving goodbye to my best friend.
*END OF FLASHBACK*
"Well that was filled with drama" I said to myself
