(3rd Person POV)

Ratigan and his subordinates strode down an alleyway, having just disposed of a group of mice that tried to hoard the share of the money that was supposed to go to him. There were humans on the path they usually took to get back to the hideout making Ratigan roll his eyes in annoyance.

"This way," he muttered, turning down another part of the street. As they walked, they passed a building which was still open, seeing as there were plenty of lights on inside and they heard classical music flowing out the windows. They saw human girls inside the bigger part of the building...but the smaller part of the building had talking going on inside. The door suddenly opened and a pair of ballet slippers were tossed into a puddle outside.

"Emily! I didn't mean throw them over!" a young blonde girl mouse, who was standing in the doorway, yelled inside to what the men assumed to be a friend.

"Sorry Dahlia!" The girl shook her head with a chuckle.

             "Alright, it's fine, bye everyone!"

"Goodnight, Dahlia!" an older woman's voice yelled from inside. "Be sure to work on your routine!"

"I will!" She closed the door and walked to the puddle, her bag over her shoulder and slippers with a huff. "At least they're not ruined." Her ears pricked up suddenly and twitched before she looked over to the group. She blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry." She turned to leave, but Ratigan was faster, taking hold of her shoulder and spinning her around. "U-Um, sir. Please let me go. Who are you? Let me go!" She would have tried to fight him off, but the man was a rat and twice her size. Ratigan chuckled.

"Now, now. It's alright, I mean no harm." Dahlia trembled in his grip, clutching her belongings so tight, her knuckled turned white. Ratigan noticed this and cupped her cheek with his free hand. This only made her tremble more and tears pricked her eyes.

'Oh bloody hell, I'm this close to living my dream, and now it's about to get ruined because I'm gonna be kidnapped or murdered.' She braced herself for the worst, but was surprised to feel the rat's thumb swiping a tear that escaped her eye. Her brown eyes snapped open and she stared up at him in utter shock.

            "S-Sir...p-please. What are you doing?"

"I must say, you're quite the beauty. I believe I heard those other ladies call you, Dahlia, correct?" he asked in a smooth voice. Dahlia blushed and merely nodded. Ratigan hummed and tilted her head side to side, inspecting the features on her face. She got so nervous that she leapt back, out of his grip, and glanced at his goons from side to side.

"L-Listen...please don't touch me. I don't know who you are and I just want to go home in one piece. Now...goodnight." She turned on her heel and ran down the alley into the night. Ratigan stared after her retreating form in interest.

"I hope to see you again...Dahlia."
