Haven's POV

Today was yet another exciting day at the Creek. Craig, Kelsey, J.P., and I visit the science kids for one of their scientific presentations.

Hopefully it doesn't randomly explode or malfunction or self-destruct or cause any form of destruction this time.

"Hey, Wren!" Craig greets.

"Salutations, Craig and companions! The four-"

Mortimor chirps.

"Ah, my sincere apologies, my fellow feathered friend. The five of you have arrived on time for my latest scientific demonstration and possibly my greatest invention yet!" Wren walks to a table with an item covered over a white sheet.

"Is it a hat that allows you to draw perfect circles every try?"

"Is it a reading light that never runs out of power?"

"Is it a three-in-one bird cage with an automatic bird seed dispenser and training ground?"

"Is it a hologram of any picture I can think of?"

"Incorrect from two to the second power. It is none other than-!"

Wren starts to yank the sheet away, but stops and looks at us.

In what seems like the blink of an eye, she pops in front of my face. I yell and nearly fall, but I regain my balance in time.

I feel Craig's hand on my shoulder catching the rest of me in case I needed extra help. I give him a reassuring smile.

"Could this be the energy source I've been looking for all this time!? Or at least since last Sunday."

"Huh? What are you talking about?" I gently swat her hand away from my barrette.

"Your hair accessory contains a component for an experiment I've been attempting to perfect for the past couple of weeks. Now, if I can just borrow it..." she explains after reaching for it a second time.

I move behind Kelsey and J.P. Kelsey grips her sword and looks at me. I shake my head.

"I'm really confused at this point. Are you saying my barrette can light up or something?"

"It can do more than that if you allow me to make modifications," Wren puts her hand out.

"Why can't you break apart something else that produces light?" Craig defends.

"Yeah. Break down a flashlight or a lamp," Kelsey suggests.

"Or wait for a piece of the sun to fall," J.P. points towards the sky. We look up and there's a cloud covering the sun.

"I trusted you!" He shakes his fist in the air.

"No, no, no, none of those options will do! Look, Ms. Sharp. In exchange for your barrette, not only will I complete my invention, but I can make upgrades for you to utilize it to your needs," Wren offers.

"Like what? Airing the next episode of My Hoagie Academia as soon as I wake up?"

"Even better," she smirks.

"What could possibly be better than a new episode of one of your favorite shows randomly airing?!" Craig joins in.

"Even better if it's not leaked," I add.

Kelsey and J.P. nod in agreement.

"Let's just say, it'll change everything."

"What- what kind of everything? Like, myself or my life? You're kind of losing me here," I scratch my head.
