Note #1: Based on season 3 episode 36, Capture the Flag Part 2: The King.
Inspired by a short comic I drew in June 2021.
I've been saving this for too long. If other stories are somewhat out of order, so what? I can always reorder them anytime I want.
Haven's POV
...he just lied to his mom.
He just lied to his mom.
He lied to his mom.
He lied.
I stare at the figure of a sulking Craig, fading in the distance, getting smaller and smaller with each step he takes until he is no longer in view.
No, no, no. Th-this can't be happening. This isn't happening right now. This isn't real.
I step back and fall to my knees.
"Haven?" Kelsey and J.P. rush to my side.
"Aww, does your wittle friend miss her even more insignificant friend already?" He mocks.
"Haven? Haven, listen to me. Craig is fine. He's just spending some alone time at home," Kelsey lightly shakes me. Mortimor sadly chirps.
I don't respond. My tears fall onto the pavement.
"You know Craig's mom well, right? She's probably not even that mad," J.P. tries to reassure me.
It doesn't work. I continue to silently cry.
"Looks like our work here is done for now," he snaps his fingers. "Come on, gang. We have more work to do."
I quickly wipe my tears.
"YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!" I stand up and snap at him, stomping the ground. It felt like everyone around me felt some sort of shockwave because of their newly heard mutters.
"Oh? So you can talk when you're all caught up in your emotions. What a surprise," he chuckles.
"You might've gotten Craig grounded, but remember this," I mutter, clenching my fists. "You will never, and I mean never take Craig out of the Creek. And with the help of my friends, we will put an end to your tyranny of not just our side, but the entire Creek once and for all."
I hear his footsteps approach me. Holding back more tears, I slowly look at him. I try and read his expression. Heck, even his mind.
What can a sinister child like you ever think of doing to this beloved place?
"We'll definitely see about that. Other than your 'ferocious' words and tone, you seem to lose all of your common sense without your Map Boy by your side. You're nothing without him. I think you should be the one to remember that," he grins, bumping into my shoulder as he leaves with the Other Siders as I prefer to call them.
I stay silent, unsure about whether I should feel confident, embarrassed, or proud.
"Kelsey, J.P., let's go," I walk past them out the gate.
"Where, exactly?" J.P. asks.
"To Craig's house. We're going to clear his name whether his mom wants to listen to us or not," I take deep breaths to calm myself down.
The two of them walk by my side, making sure I don't stumble.
"Thank you, guys," I sigh, giving them a light, determined smile. The only things on my mind right now is the grand speech I'm gonna tell Craig's mom and the biggest bear hug I'll give Craig himself the moment I see him.
Note #2: Here's the comic.
Also fun fact, one of the co-creators liked it. Let's gooo.
Bonus panel isn't canon.
Here's a drawn-out panel from the story. Really captures how Haven was feeling.
One more quick note, from the late update, it wasn't even a day when I reached 700+ and NOW I have 800+ after like, almost two months of not uploading here. Thanks! But also sorry for the lack of updates. Been focusing on school and other things lately.
