(A/N) It's short, but not so sweet. And there's an epic cliffhanger. Be warned!

(Levi's POV)

On our way home from Italy's Own after a really good pizza or two, me and Eren were talking about the most random of things.

"Hey Levi, do you think that animals have souls like we do?"

"And why does it matter?"

"Well, what if a cat had feelings like we do when it gets abandoned? Would it feel alone or confused, or would it not know how to feel anything?"

"To be honest, I have no idea why this interests you, but since you want an answer, I'd just say that we're the top of the intelligence spectrum as far as I know, so I don't think their brains would have the capacity to feel complex emotions like we can."

"Okay, I think those words are way too complicated..."

I sighed from the lack of understanding in this child that I loved so dearly.

"I think animals have souls, just not like what we're given. Not as complicated."

"Okay."

We sat there in silence for a while, both of us probably wondering what to say. It was really awkward when you couldn't come up with a topic of discussion.

Just as I was about to open my mouth, Eren interrupts. Not that I really minded.

"Levi... do you believe... in reincarnation?"

The question caught me slightly off guard. He sounded really serious about this, unlike the frivolous conversation going on earlier.

"You mean people getting reborn, correct?"

"Yeah," he said with a slight nod. "Do you think that we might be, or possibly already have been reincarnated?"

"Hm..."

I really wasn't sure what to say. I had never thought about reincarnation before, it just wasn't something that came to mind. I didn't know how I felt about it, considering we live in the present.

"I don't think it could be possible, but it's not like we could ever know for sure. Do you honestly think that you would know who you were in a past life if such a thing were possible?"

I could see him pondering the thought through my peripheral vision, my eyes locked on the road.

"I guess you're right. Sorry, it was a stupid question to ask."

I looked at him and shook my head.

"Eren, it wasn't a stupid question. It was something you were curious about, and I gave my opinion. You seemed pretty serious about the topic as well, so I took it seriously too. Don't put yourself down like that, okay?"

He slowly nodded and gave a small, "Mm-hm", but soon after, he looked up and his eyes widened, and he nearly screamed, "Levi!"

(Eren's POV)

"Mm-hm," I said as I slowly nodded. I looked up to the road, hoping to escape the subject. All I expected to see was us traveling down the road amongst the traffic, but instead, I saw a car heading straight for us, and we were in the wrong lane.

"Levi!"
