We began to make our way down the halls, sunlight streaming through the towering windows along the sides. It did appear to be an infirmary, closed doors beside me leading into other rooms. The hallway was entirely empty, our footsteps on the wooden floors the only sound through the silence.
"Where are we even?" I queried, peering over at Caitlyn.
"Piltover's hospital," she replied.
We passed others as we began to make our way further down, doctors staring at me curiously while holding clipboards and nurses rushing hurriedly around. One doctor stopped in front of us, looking from me to Caitlyn in confusion.
"Miss Kiramman!" he exclaimed cheerily, "I thought that you were visiting patient 33, is everything ok?"
The man eyed me suspiciously, clearly gathering that something was off.
"I was uhm.." I thought of an excuse quickly, "Here to interview the patient! Must have slipped in without you seeing sir, apologies."
He nodded seemingly convinced and walked off. I sighed in relief as Caitlyn guided me down the stairs, looking forward solemnly.
"Good cover y/n," she muttered under her breath.
Soon we were out in Piltover's streets, bystanders wandering by and surveying the picturesque shops around us. The smell of freshly cooked bread hit my nostrils, my stomach rumbling. I glanced down the street to see a small bakery, the baker throwing open a window. It struck me that I hadn't eaten since yesterday.
This place was like a paradise, the sunlight shining brightly down on us in the crystal-blue skies above. A pity that it was tainted by corruption. Caitlyn grabbed my arm as I stood mesmerised, snapping out of my trance I started to follow her again. We passed by an enforcer, who looked quite perplexed upon seeing me.
"I don't think I've seen you around here.." she hesitated.
"First day on the job!" I responded, quickening my pace as I turned around to Caitlyn, "I think I need new clothes."
"We have business to attend to y/n, there's no time for an outfit change," she muttered.
"It's going to raise suspicions, it already has."
Caitlyn sighed, "Fine, I know a place."
She took me down a cramped sidestreet, leading me out onto a busy avenue. Suddenly Caitlyn stopped. In front of us stood a petite shop, beautifully elaborate clothes in the window. The fabrics in their range of colours were alluring, without hesitation I followed the girl into the boutique. It was cozy, with patterned rugs on the floor and woolly tapestries on the wall. Racks of assortments of clothing lined the walls, and shelves full of supplies.
"Hello there!" smiled a kind old woman behind the counter "How may I help you today?"
Caitlyn explained to her how I needed a new set of clothing as I stared in awe around me. I had never seen a shop quite as charming as this in the undercity.
"What style are you looking for, dear?" the lady asked me, peering up at me through her glasses.
