My dear Amy,
You told me in your last letter that the final exams of your semester are stressing you, I can tell you that I totally relate to that. Finals just started in Toronto too, I'm writing the last exam in two weeks before taking the soonest train as possible to get to you.
Don't worry about your exams, I'm sure you'll do great! Just remember everything that I told you, see that you keep an eye on the time so you finish early enough.
Also, I got to do my first surgery yesterday and if I do well at the inspection tomorrow I might as well be able to be an assistant helper through the next big surgery. I'll tell you all about It when I'm back at Queens because my next letter then will barely reach you before I'm back myself.

I can't wait to see you, I miss you incredibly.

-Gilbert

Amybella re-read the letter, smiling. She had received it a few days ago which meant that Gilbert was gonna come back soon. Her and the other girls had just finished their last exam, for this semester and wanted to go, celebrate it.

The door opened and Anne came in.

"I got a letter from Gil." Bella said, smiling and Anne returned it.

"What's he writing?" She asked while taking her hat off. Bella then caught her looking at something that seemed to look like a bracelet. Annes mind seemed to be somewhere else than Gilbert's letter. So Bella decided to tell her later.

"Doesn't matter, how was your walk with Charlie?" She said, rolling on her bed, so she would lay in her stomach. Anne sighed.

"He makes it obvious that he likes me. He listens to everything I say and he absolutely never disagrees with me, no matter what we talk about." She said, sitting down on her bed.

"Sounds like paradise to me." Bella said shrugging her shoulders, even though she knew how awful it was for Anne.

"I feel like he didn't even know what I was talking about, most of the time." The red haired stood up again, walking around.

"You already knew that Charlie wasn't the brightest in school, why are you surprised?" Bella asked and Anne sighed again.

"And all he would talk about was farming
and- and cows!" Anne threw her hands up. Bella chuckled.

"But you knew that Anne, why did you meet him in the first place?" The blonde girl then asked.

"Well because I thought that he might have changed.." Anne said, turning her back to Bella.
The blonde girl sighed and then sat up on her bed.

"You don't have to force yourself to like someone just because they like you, Anne." She said and the redhead turned around to her.

"Uh.. I know!" She said and let herself fall on the bed again. Bella stood up and walked across the room to her friend.

"You're only 18. Don't pressure yourself."
She laid a hand on the girls shoulder.

"I know." She responded now calmer. Bella sat down on her bed.

"I just wish I had something like you and Gilbert. Someone who shares my intellect and my passion." She said, laying a hand on her forehead to cover her eyes.
Bella suddenly chuckled.

"Who would've thought that Anne Shirley Cuthbert, the independent woman would seek a husband." Amy said.

"I mean, romantic partner for life." She added and raised a hand, when Anne gave her a dirty look.

"What's so wrong about seeking romance?" She asked, causing Bella to shake her head.

"Nothing." Bella responded, shrugging her shoulders. The door opened and Diana stepped in.

"He proposed." The brunette girl said, while she had not even closed the door and left the two other girls in the room stunned with their jaws on the floor.

"What?!" Anne asked, completely in shock just like Bella.

"Fred proposed to me." She said

"And I said yes!"

Amybella looked to the dust, coming from the train, hearing the talking of people greeting each other and falling into each others arms. She waited for a certain brunette man to step off the train but there was no one. No familiar face that was gonna smile at her and pull her into an embrace. She heard the loud honking of the train when it was about to leave the station and felt the soft sound of raindrops falling on her umbrella.

Rain really wasn't her favorite weather, although she knew an old friend back in England that loved the rain dearly, especially the smell of it.

Bella had never ever smelled rain.

She thought it was ridiculous but when she told Gilbert about it, he said that he'd like the rain too and that its smell would be comforting.
She thought that was a foolish idea.
To smell rain.

When the train left, Bella had to admit herself that Gilbert wasn't to come. He will maybe come with the next one tomorrow, she thought.
At the same time she silently cursed the man for not telling her at which exact day he would return.
The girl felt the cold air of the rain, that made her pull her coat closer and decided that she should go back home to Blackmore.

He'll come. She thought.
He'll come soon.
