Despite what Billie had told Brian, she wasn't actually busy. It was just her standard excuse, to him she had been busy every day until Friday and luckily he didn't ask for a better explanation. She was infinitely grateful for that. Instead he had agreed to work with her during lunch breaks and then meet up with her before school on Friday to explain to her the model accompanying the project they had been working on together.
Like almost every other morning she walked down the streets from her house to her school. This morning she was humming a song she had heard on the radio right before she left, skipping a little from time to time. She was surprising herself, it was rare she was in such a good mood.
But then again she knew exactly what was putting her in such a good mood, she was going to have an entire hour with Brian alone. They would have finished talking about the physics project after a few minutes, she thought, so then they could maybe talk about some other things for the rest of the time and that was exciting. She couldn't wait to talk to him and he was the one who suggested to meet up that early, so he didn't seem to mind spending time with her either.
She skipped the last few metres to the gate of the school before she stopped and straightened out her skirt. The last thing Billie wanted was to seem overly eager or even messy to him. His opinion mattered a lot to her. She wasn't exactly shure why, but it did.
She stepped into the school yard and glanced around. She saw Brian was already sitting on the steps and felt herself start to smile uncontrollably. He was sitting on the steps in front of the old building's entrance doors, holding what was probably the model he and his father had made for their project. She quickly averted her gaze to the pebbles on the ground, trying not to look happier than appropriate to see her project partner.
What she didn't see like so often when she didn't look at him was the wide smile that formed on his face when he saw her. He put down the model and got up. "Hey Billie," he greeted her and fiddled with his fingers, suddenly not sure anymore why he got up. It wasn't like he was going to hug her, no matter how much he wanted to wrap his arms around her. She always seemed so alert, jumpy and scared almost. He wanted nothing more than to see her relaxed and happy and he wished she knew he wanted that so she would let him help her. He wanted to help her relax in his arms but he couldn't. He sighed and looked at her again, feeling happier again when he noticed the smile growing on her face
She was unable to contain tit any longer and looked up at him. "Hey Brian. Thank you for coming early." She stopped a few metres in front of him and looked him up and down quickly, sighing quietly to herself. He always looked so good..
"It's no problem at all. You're a busy person, it's not your fault. Come sit with me, I'll explain everything to you." He smiled at her and took off his jacket and spread it out on the cold stone tiles. "Sit on my jacket, then you won't get cold." He smiled at Billie.
"And what about you?" Billie looked at him in disbelief. No one ever did nice things like that for her, and he constantly did even though she didn't understand why.
He dismissed it with a wave of his hand. "I'll be fine, as long as you are fine. Sit." He smiled at her and sat next to the jacket.
She was a bit hesitant to sit down, he was asking her to sit on his jacket. That might not be a big deal for a lot of people, but it was to her and it made her stomach flutter. Did that mean he cared about her? It almost had to mean that, but could it really be? Billie was so caught up in her inner contemplation that she didn't realise she still wasn't sitting and Brian was staring at her.
"I-Is something wrong?" He inquired and looked at her intently.
She realised he was talking to her and shook her head. "No, no, nothing is wrong.. Thank you." She flashed him a small smile and sat on his jacket, careful not to damage it in any way.
"So," Brian started and picked up the wooden model again. "This is it, my Dad and I finished last night."
Billie looked at it with an impressed smile and tried to pay attention to every little detail Brian explained to her. "It looks great, really. Tell your Dad thanks from me." She smiled and looked at the model again, trying to remember all he told her.
"Actually I was kind of wondering if you'd like to tell him that yourself. My Mum keeps asking about you," he admitted, a little embarrassed, "and she invited you over for dinner, if you want.."
I'm back!! I'm actually back. The reason for that is that I want to write a continuation or sequel of sorts of this story, so it makes sense to finish this first. If you have tumblr you can check out the blog I made for this story (please do!!), it's nothing-can-my-love-erase.tumblr.com. You can find a link to it on my main Queen blog marchoftheblack-queen so you should be able to find it somehow. Yeah.. that's it for now, I will update more regularly. I'm sorry for the long wait, but it's my new year's resolution to finish the story (prologue + sequel) so we'll see how it goes. :D I hope you still like it, let me know what you think.
