Since Clint moved in next door, Scott had developed a sort of "routine" with the man. Every morning after Cassie gets on the bus for school, Clint would come over and have coffee with Scott on his front porch. They would talk until Clint had to go to work. After a couple weeks, Clint and Scott knew each other very well and were close.

"So, where's Cassie's mom, if you don't mind me asking." Clint said as he and Scott sat on the swing-bench on his front porch, Lucky laying by his feet.

"We divorced when Cassie was six. At first she had primary custody of Cassie, but when her husband got a job transfer and had to move a couple states away, we changed the custody agreement so that Cassie wouldn't have to switch schools." Scott explained.

"How often does Cassie get to see her mom?" Clint asked.

"She's with her mom for a month during summer and we alternate spring break, thanksgiving, and christmas." Scott replied.

"You two seem really close, I bet you miss her when she's away." Clint said, finishing off his coffee.

Clint loved it when Scott talked about his daughter, loved seeing the smile on his face. He admired what a loving father Scott was.

"She's lucky to have a dad that loves her like you do." Clint said, scooting closer to Scott on the bench.

"Are you seeing anyone right now?" he asked, touching his knee to Scott's.

"Are you trying to ask me out or something?" Scott chuckled, leaning in a bit.

"Maybe." Clint giggled lightly, kissing Scott.

Scott kissed him back, grabbing his hip. They kissed until they were interrupted by Clint's cellphone ringing.

"Hang on, this won't take long." Clint told Scott.

He steps away to answer his phone and Scott watched worriedly as the color drained from Clint's face.

"H-how did you get this number?" Clint asked the person on the other end of the call.

"Why are you calling me? What do you want!?" he demanded.

Clint grumbles nervously, dragging a hand over his face.

"Oh my f**king god, are you serious? I dumped your sorry a**, Brock. That means you leave me the h*ll alone!" Clint shouted before hanging up.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Scott asked standing up.

"No. My ex just got out of jail and he somehow got a hold of my new phone number. Now he's wanting to get back together and I don't think he's gonna take no for an answer." Clint replied.

"Well, he's in New York, right? That's all the way on the other side of the country, so there's not much he can do." Scott said laying a comforting hand on Clint's shoulder.

"Hmm, you're right. Sorry, I don't even know why I'm freaking out. Brock just gets to me sometimes." Clint sighed.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" Scott asked.

"No, not really." Clint shook his head.

"Okay, wanna go inside and play some video games, take your mind off of things." Scott suggested.

"Yeah, that sounds good." Clint nodded.

Scott lets Clint and Lucky into his house and he sets up his X-Box while Clint sat on the couch. It was Clint's day off from work, so the two of them play video games until Cassie came home from school.

"Thanks for cheering me up and all. Also, sorry my jack-a** ex interrupted something good." Clint said as Cassie came inside.

"Oh, hi, Mr. Barton." Cassie greeted.
