A Hero Of The Land

Miyako's POV

'All of this noises are going to make me death.' I look around, bored so I summon water from my hand and start to make and ice sculpture. I look down from the rail, seeing Sakura, sitting on the bench next to me yawning and started to stretch.

"Are you always this lazy?" We look up and see Tazuna wearing a construction hat carrying a metal bar. Sakura covers her mouth, "Where's that weird blonde kid and the one with the attitude?"

Before I could answer, Sakura beats me to it, "They're training, climbing trees."

"Too tough for you girls?" He walks to the other side where all the materials are.

Sakura starts to brag, "No in fact, we are the best and thats why sensei sent us here to guard you!"

He looks at me then at Sakura, "You're joking."

Sakura growls, I just look up sending him a glare. One of the workers walk up to Tazuna, "Tazuna, I need to talk to you."

Tazuna wipes his sweat with a towel on his shoulder, "Huh? What about?"

I look up and see the worker looking down, "The thing is, I've been thinking alot about the bridge. And I decided I pushed my luck far enough. " He looks at Tazuna, "I want out."

Tazuna starts to yell, "NOW YOU'RE JUST GOING TO QUIT ON ME JUST LIKE THAT?! YOU'RE KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!"

"You know, I stayed on because of our friendship, but I'm putting my life on the line everyday I stay here. Gato and his thugs will show up eventually." Tazuna glares at the man, "When they do, they will kill you and the bridge will never be finished." He sighs, "It's a loss cause Tazuna, why don't we stop now when we can still get out of this alive."

There was a pause of silence until Tazuna responds, "No chance." The man looks at him in shock, "This is 'our' bridge. Our island is poor and it will stay that way until this bridge connects us to the main land. Comers, traders,and hope that's what we're building here!!"

"There's not going to be much hope if we're all dead."

Tazuna walks away, "It's already noon, it's break for lunch."

The man turns around, "Tazuna, let's not end it like this."

He turns to face him, "Save your breath, oh and Geeichi, (His friend's name, I don't know how to spell it ) don't even bother coming back for lunch."

Me and Sakura just look at each other and look at the two older men of how their friendship ended.

~ Time Skip~

"Where are we going?" Sakura looks around the place as I stay between Tazuna and her.

"You guys want to eat tonight don't you? We got to pick up some things for dinner."

I look around and couldn't help but be sad as seeing a man holding a sign asking for help, seeing a child steal food, and children with nothing but clothes sitting on a board. I turn to Sakura as she notices as well. We go into a store, but there was nothing there, just some carrots letuce and other vegtables. I smell a man come in and stand right behind Sakura.

"Hey Sakura be careful." I whisper to her so the man won't hear me.

"Wh--" It was too late when the man accidently grabs her butt. "YOU PEVERT!!!!!!" She kicks him in the face surprising him as he falls down.

When we got out of the store to go back to Tazuna's house he looks at Sakura, "Wow, you really surprised me back there. Girls around here don't fight like that."
