Foreshadowing, it's something all good authors use. You can't have a good book with a meaningful plot without foreshadowing
Foreshadowing is supposed to be subtle. Though, a lot of people can spot it because whatever you may be foreshadowing is a commonly used thing
For example, pregnancy. There is no God damn way to foreshadow pregnancy and not have it be obvious. Especially on wattpad because we've all read a million x readers when the reader gets pregnant. I mean the minute you see "I got up and ran to the bathroom because I felt sick" that's a guarantee, the reader is pregnant. But because people commonly link morning sickness to pregnancy, it gives the author the ability to use similar symptoms for something totally different. Therefore you're foreshadowing something
When a character dies in an anime. You can usually tell before hand. If the episode is named after them, they're probably gonna die. Or if they're getting a bunch of backstory and a lot of screen time that they weren't getting before
People tend to foreshadow deaths or other big events. You want the reader to know something is going to happen, but they don't know what
For example in attack on Titan. Carla Jaeger dies. And before yall are like "um spoilers" ITS LITERALLY IN LIKE THE FIRST EPISODE so don't start
Now something I like to do just cuz I'm an asshole. If I know a character is gonna die. I give Y/n a false sense of hope that the character, were using Carla as our example, will be okay. So something like
"I'll see you after this"
"You're gonna be okay"
"Don't die"
Y'know. But the point is, it let's the reader know, hey this character is on thin ice and might die. You want your readers to have a sense of what's going on, but not entirely
