I did what any rational person would do. I ran. But he merely streaked in front of me, blocking my path. Next option. I screamed at the top of my lungs. He merely covered my mouth. Big mistake. I bit down, hard, tasting blood. I spit it out. Hoping vampires had the same weaknesses regular boys did, I kicked him in the crotch. He cursed and let go of me.
No one was going to help me. But how could I defeat a freaking vampire?! I was only human!
He started coming up behind me again, and I grabbed a twig without thinking and stabbed him as hard as I could in his soft spot, breaking the twig in the process.
A few months ago, vampires had revealed themselves to the world. Humans signed a treaty with them. They could be a normal part of society if they didn't, you know, kill us.
But just like with any species, there were the rogues. And now I was alone with one.
Looking around, I saw a dead branch on the ground. Well, it was better than nothing. I picked it up, ran over to him (he was still cussing and clutching his crotch) and kicked him again in the same spot. He staggered back, and I used that opportunity to nail him in the chest with the tree branch.
Everyone said vampires' bones were fragile around their hearts, and I guess it was true, because he turned to dust. Another breeze ruffled my hair, blowing away all that remained of my assailant.
