I quickly say my goodbyes to the head Coach, Coach Lane, some important people, teammates and I head out, hoping Madison hasn't left me.

I understand that she's pissed. I left her alone even though that wasn't my intention.

I was waiting for her outside the bathroom when Natasha approached me. It was like she was waiting to get me alone.

I told her to leave but she wouldn't. Eventually, I pulled her outside fearing Madison would find me with her.

I reach the bottom step and look around. I see Madison arguing with the busboy. It's obvious he's not allowing her to leave without me. A small miracle because I know this girl would leave my ass behind.

The man looks up. "Mr. Blake, I'll get your car."

I nod and look at Madison. Her back is still to me. Refusing to look at me.

Feeling my heart constrict I try again, "Madison—"

"Don't talk to me right now, Maxon."

"I'm sorry." I whisper, meaning it with my whole heart but she doesn't say anything.

We stand in silence, waiting until the car is brought to us.

The entire ride back home is filled with that silence. Madison stares out the window soundlessly. I occasionally glance at her not wanting to say anything. I'm too afraid I'll upset her even more.

I pull up outside the house and just as I go to open Madison's door she swings it open rushing past me.

My heart sinks.

She hasn't looked in my direction once and that fucking hurts.

Look at me. I want to tell her.

But I know she's too upset.

And it's because of me.

We enter the house and are immediately greeted by Race, our puppy. Though Madison was upset over the name, she still calls him Fluffy. He approaches us with his tail wagging and Madison just stares at him as she removes her heels and quickly jogs up the stairs, not bothering to glance once in our direction. Race walks toward me and he whimpers.

I set down the keys in a bowl and kneel down to pet him. "Hey, buddy. Mom's upset with me right now."

He stares up the stairs where she went and we hear the shower turning on.

I sigh as he whines again. "She's not mad at you, bud." I scratch behind his ears and he slowly perks up. I give him a few treats before removing my suit.

I'll give her a few minutes to cool down.

Madison and I need to talk.
