This is a one shot where at the end of HOO the gods offered the Demigods godhood- not all of them just the main ones- and they all accept.
Percy is dying. He knows why and it makes him furious. Why you're probably asking? After everything he has done for this god damn Earth, they can't repay him by just looking after the ocean?
Sure, they've never actually seen the beauty the great ocean has to offer, they didn't get to see dolphins lunging from the waves and clicking away to each other, they never saw to coral reefs flush with colour and exotic animals, they never saw the glorious sun sets on the horizon of the ocean, reflecting the suns amazing rays in the water, because they ruined the world before it had a chance to shine.
But they could have if the other generations had tried. They took what they had for granted and because of that no one else got to enjoy it.
Mortals where lazy.
Mortals where selfish.
Mortals where careless.
Mortals where freaking stupid knuckle headed potato brains, and now other mortals pay the price.
So Percy sat on the edge of the ocean, staring out at the vast blue. He can barely feel animals talking to him, he has to focus very hard because the ones that are still alive are so deep down, and even they're dying because of a terrible snowball affect.
The ocean is a ugly grey colour, filled with floating bits of plastic and dead creatures. Not just normal mortal things but other exotic sea dwellers as well from the mythology, all floating dead and the mortals only see them as big sharks or funny looking turtles.
The Gods tried to change their minds. Piper, the goddess of love, went down to earth and did I big speech using her Charmspeak, people listened, for about fifty years. Annabeth created a genius child who had all the facts and states, who saw the damage and tried to make a difference... but no one listened. Percy floated the dead animals to shore, ruining peoples beach days with dead animals but they just shoved them aside. He couldn't just remove it all because then the mortals would notice, wouldn't they? He did it anyway. But mortals then seemed to think that because all the rubbish is gone they fixed it and stopped caring all together.
Leo invented quickly bio degrading plastics but it still took awhile and people thought it was amazing and threw it all out because "now it goes faster so we can throw more because it will be gone by the time we've got more!" Leo is a genius, and Percy really loves that he tried, but they needed something more.
And now Percy sits alone, staring out his ruined home, slowly dying. Only needed so long as the ocean is around.
The other Olympians are unaware that the death of the great sea will also be the death of Percy, even Annabeth doesn't know.
It killed him to be doing this alone, literally and mentally. When he became a god he knew he'd lose people, Grover, Paul, Sally, Estelle, all those great mortals, but he made the sacrifice to keep the ocean. His mother died at the oceans side on her death bed, Paul died looking out at where his wife had gone, Estelle died on the ocean, Grover died on a mission but was buried next to the others by the water. Percy was by all their sides when Nico told him they had gone.
Annabeth was by his side as he mourned for centuries, they all where.
But now it's his time, and he's, not, ready. Sure, he'll get to see Paul and Sally and Estelle and everyone they lost years and years ago, but he doesn't want to give up, he never has, and never wanted to, but....
He heard he before she appeared.
Annabeth sat down next to Percy on the cliff face, flowing blonde curls bouncing and shinning in the sun, grey eyes glinting, skin perfect and smooth, her lips in a sad smile as she took Percy's hand in her own one, putting her head on his shoulder.
