~Draco~
She was perfect.
In every way possible. I watched her constantly. There wasn't a single moment when my eyes weren't on my Angel. The way she smiled made my chest fill with warmth, the small dimples in her cheeks were almost constantly present as she was filled with joy. I watched her as if I would be blinded the very next second. Because if I were to die or be blinded, the very last thing I wanted to see was the beauty of the world.
My Angel.
After our spontaneous moment, I could never let my eyes leave her again. She allowed me in, she had shown me I had proven myself to her. And my Merlin was she beautiful. I never wanted to look at anyone else if it wasn't her. The way she moved, the way she breathed, she was unbelievably exquisite.
I watched her while she helped Opal do her hair before Mother made us help with more preparations for the ball. We could barely keep our hands off each other the previous day. And even though our day was gone and passed, I couldn't keep my eyes off her. She smiled while pulling her sister's hair into two small pigtails. I watched as she twirled her fingers through her small blonde locks. It was a coupling mechanism, something I noticed she did subconsciously. She used it as a way of knowing Opal was safe. Having her close, by twirling her small locks of blonde hair, she knew that she was protected.
Opal giggled while Amy whispered to her, her small giggle filled the room and sent a smile right to my lips. It was rare for me to care about someone as much as I cared about the two sisters in front of me. There was an almost strange connection I held with Opal that instantly clicked in place when we waited for Amy to wake up.
She spoke in such a childish voice. I hadn't been around any children as young as her before. The way she mispronounced her words made me nearly laugh in awe, knowing it would take a year or two longer for her pronunciation to get better. She was so small, so small and innocent. She held no knowledge of the seriousness the world around her held. She had no clue of what was going on in her own home. She didn't know that a dark wizard had welcomed himself unannounced into her home. She didn't know or understand that her parents weren't supposed to leave her as they did.
"Where's Mummy and Daddy?" She asked in a small voice.
Amy hesitated and looked towards me while I leaned against the door frame, "They've gone for a holiday." She smiled back to Opal.
"Can we go too?" Opal's eyes turned to where her small three-year-old fingers were interlocked in Amy's honey brown hair.
Amy hesitated once more before she picked Opal up and placed her on her hip. Her emeralds were slightly saddened at the mention of their parents. They had left without warning, gone in the middle of the night most likely. Vanished into thin air, not a trace left of them.
"Let's go help Cissy with the decorations," She changed the subject just as quick as it came around.
Amy gave me a wan smile, short and sweet while she nodded her head for me to follow. Opal's head was facing me, resting on Amy's shoulder. I tried to hide my smile while she stuck her tongue out at me. She began making all these faces I had never seen before, all the little things she could do with her eyes and nose made me care more and more about her. Caring for someone other than Amy was an unknown feeling to me.
The day we waited for Angel to wake up, I spoke to Opal properly. She asked me what my name was, she asked how old I was. She even asked if I was a prince from one of her books. That last one made me laugh a little. In no way was I a prince, and if I ever was—I wouldn't be the good kind. She reached out to touch my hair, sticking her tongue out as she concentrated on every strand on my head. Then her eyes travelled to the scar that crossed over my eye. Her eyes went wide before her nimble fingers traced the jagged lines that decorated my face. The two sisters held a place in my heart that I never knew existed, and I suddenly realised that I was as protective over them as Amy was.
