The sounds of bullets being fired reverberated around the house followed by the petrified screams of the cleaning staff which were due to finish their shift for the evening.

I turned to face Mara who was making a beeline for the closet. I moved to my side of the bed and opened my drawer, shuffling though random shit was in there until I found my handgun. I pulled it out, checking for bullets and then placed it in my pocket.

"Who the fuck is shooting up the place?" She grumbled. I turned around to spot her in a hoodie and some leggings. I motioned to her time efficient outfit change and she rolled her eyes. "You seriously expect me to have a shoot out in my pyjamas?"

"I suppose not."

She rummaged through her handbag which she had left discarded on the floor. She pulled out her handgun and knife before slipping her knife into her pocket.

I pointed to the closet. "You. In the closet. Now."

Her jaw dropped open as if I had said something extremely offensive. She scoffed. "I'm not hiding in the closet like some goddam damsel in distress!"

"Mara I don't have time to worry about you getting shot in the head and trying to kill those guys simultaneously, especially when I don't know how many are out there!"

She smirked and rested her hand on hip. "You'd be worried?"

"Just shut up and get in the closet. Don't open the door unless it's me or Gio."

"What about Bella?" She questioned.

"I know Dante is doing the rounds along her hallway so he will protect her, sí?"

"Alright, don't fucking die or whatever." She muttered, following behind me to lock the door after I had left. I wrapped my hand around the door, attempting to open it before her voiced stopped me. "What about Ares and Athena?" I could hear genuine worry lace her voice. I turned around to face her.

"They have a fine set of teeth and they have been trained for this type of stuff."

The sounds of continuous gunshots and men shouting urged me to get down to my men and help them out. I said a quick goodbye to Mara and slipped out the door.
