After leaving the hunter guild officers for the second day Paws lead me to his work place, it was a curious two story pink establishment which he instructed me to stay outside of. Curious indeed, three woman stood waiting and watching their eyes sparkling in various swimwear and thin dresses and shorts. One could not blame them for their attire it was a sweltering day on the island as were most days.
Each was beautiful.
One had dark purple skin of a plum and the soft amber freckles of a young girl, her eyes were wise and her hair was a charcoal black with hints of greys and amethyst purple in the light. In that long hair was trinkets and bobbles and and all kinds of favourable gems of a kind or another. She looked dripped in gold and gems. She wore a thin white cloak draping off her arms, a dress of lilac that fit her finely. She was beautiful and looked as if she were the kind of woman men sang about in epic love poems.
Another of the three was a pretty blond with ruby skin and horns that were saved down to little nibs. She looked like a cherub in a pretty pink dress that flowed about her in a puff of silk. She had a hearts shaped face and her hair curled around her delicately. If one was made for epic love pomes this lady was the kind of girl one took home to meet their family and cherished forever. Her eyes were cleaver and she looked at me as if she could go from sweetness to sin in an instant.
The third of them, had black skin that shone with an under glow of ruby red and yellow veins as if lava flowed beneath her skin. Her hair was a flaming pool of fire atop her head except it was only hair and she had quaff it to look as if it were more fire like then it was, or perhaps she simply did not brush it out. and as if pulling the masterpiece together was her ruby red eyes. She wore a scarlet dress and ruby lipstick to compete the look. She looked as if she was the kind of woman that men went to war over. It was intimidating.
The pretty blond and the woman with trinkets and bobbles in her hair both walked over to me tentatively and seaming to inspect me.
"Well your new." Said the lady with plum coloured skin she held out her hand to me insisting I take it. Not sure what to do with her hand I shook it.
Her blond friend giggled and said "We don't see many moth folk around town, I'm Lilie and this is Jasmine"
"Lovely to meet you both, I am Thr'bel but my friends call me Bel" I say introducing myself, Jasmine shivers at my use of the moth language as I have found most non Moth folk will become discomforted with my native tongue.
Lilie however says "oh that's lovely, Thril Threl Threl? How was that?" She asks it so delicately but it's still all wrong. How lovely and sad, I smile at her and say "not quite, I doubt you would be able to get it quite perfect, you see moth folk have a specific organ in their mouth that helps produce the vocal vibrations nessisary."
"Oh Yes do tell us more about your throat organ?" Said Jasmine
"Well its called a proboscis or sometimes a haustellum it's really two tubes held together by hooks and separable for cleaning, but I must bore you with the details."
"Not at all" said Lillie who was winking and blinking at me. I don't have eyelids as such so I am not sure what this was perhaps she had something in her eyes. I produced for her a handkerchief and offered it to her and she only giggled and put it to her face.
"Perhaps we should invite you inside and you can show us a demonstration of your Proboscis then?" Jasmine asked me.
"Oh there is no need, you need only ask, I can give you a lesion on moth anatomy right now" I said then produced from my mouth my tongue which split off into two long independent coils and continued speaking "this is my proboscis I use it to eat and also talk, as air close though these channels see you can see them moving here now" I pointed out the spots where air flowed though and my voice resonated though the chambers.
Lilies eyes went wide and sparkled as she started asking questions and Jasmine took a step back trying not to be impolite I put my tongue away.
"Oh dear me I seam to have unnerved you."
"No not at all." Said Jasmine her eyes wide and face pale she looked away from me.
"Perhaps I should go find Paws" I say stepping towards the inn.
"Oh no please don't leave." Said Lilie.
"I just wasn't expecting you to." Jasmine said then began to laugh to herself and began to unravel her hair nervously.
I smiled at her sudden anxiety, obviously I had disturbed the genial summer child with my display and explanations she was far to innocent for my anatomy lessons even as innocent as they were.
Just then the door opened and I saw paws walk out into the street he stopped a moment and I waved to him my greeting. But continued the conversation with he lovely young lady's.
"I am sorry for my behaviour how naughty of me to make you listen to my lessons, you are so shy, well, thank you for asking anyways, if you have any more questions do not feel shy."
"Wait, Bel, may I call you that"
"Of corse"
"Well, Bel, would you like to come to a party tonight, its a fancy dress party, were all going to be in elegant black tie and masks. What do you think."
"Oh well I would love to, can I bring some friends?"
Jasmine and Lilie looked at one another and then nodded enthusiastically.
