Christmas: Meeting the parents

I can't believe Amy convinced me to wear this green sweater! I will admit the color looks nice with my fur but I hate the Christmas trees going around it. Yet I agreed to wear a Christmas sweater for her since this Christmas is special and I'm fucking nervous. I rearranged the bar area for the 50th time. "Knuckles?" Amy said. "Hmm?" "Why are you rearranging the bar again? I told you it looks great." "I'm sorry Ames I'm nervous having both our parents and siblings here.... I mean I didn't know you had a big brother..... I just want this to be perfect for us." I sighed. "Oh Knuckles just be yourself they will love you." She smiled with her hair pulled back with a red and green ribbon headband with a bow on the side. "Now could you help me chop up some carrots for the roast?" She asked. "Yeah sure Ames I said following her into the kitchen as she baste the roast in its juices as I put the chopped carrots and potatoes in. "Ok the roast will be ready soon" she said taking off her apron and dusting off her red turtleneck sweater dress with black leggings. "You know your outfit is missing something." I smiled. "Really what?" She asked. I hold up my finger as I walk into the living room grabbing a small box from under the tree. I walk right back and handed her the small gift. "This is my early gift for you I hope you like it Ames."

I pull the blue ribbon off revealing a dark blue box under its silver wrapping paper. I open the box and my eyes widen. It was the silver opal and diamond snowflake pendant I have been looking at when we went Christmas shopping for our friends and family. "Omg Knuckles..... it's beautiful...." I said with tears of joy. I hold back my hair as he puts it around my neck. "There now your even more stunning." He kisses my hand with my ring. The door bell rings and knuckles freezes I take his hand giving him a comforting smile. He relaxes as we both go to answer the door.

I feel relaxed but I'm still nervous as we open the door. "Mom! Dad! James! Honey!" Amy said hugging a male scarlet hedgehog with blue and green hazel eyes, a white female hedgehog with glowing green eyes, A blonde hedgehog with long black hair and Carmel eyes, and a big dark red hedgehog that is taller than me and my dad with piercing blue eyes. I gulp and my heart pounds. "Knuckles babe this is my mom Emma, my big brother James and his wife Honey, and this is my dad-" "Asher" his voice boomed towering over me. I hold out my hand he bends to my level and stares at me dead in the eyes. I am terrified to move because I don't want to seem disrespectful. He looks up and down and stands back up turning to Amy. "Does he make you happy my sweet little princess?" "Yes daddy very much even and he treats me very well. He actually got me this beautiful outfit for tonight when we went Christmas shopping yesterday." She said as she twirls. "Plus gave me this stunning necklace as a early Christmas present." "Oh my that is very lovely Amy" her mother smiled. He turns to back to me and I crack a nervous smile and he looks around my house then nods in approval. He takes my hand which I completely forgot I still had held out and shakes it. "Strong grip you work out?" He asked. I nod "y-yes sir" I said. His gaze goes back to intimidating and I feel like I said something wrong. "Don't call me sir boy call me Asher or dad" he picks me up in a bear hug and laughs. I look over his shoulder to see Amy rolling her eyes embarrassed. "Dad why do you always gotta scare every boyfriend you meet. "Hahaha because my little princess if they can't handle being around me then they aren't worth your time but this lad here stood his ground. I like him." He side with a hard pat on the back nearly knocking the wind out of me. "Well please join us in the living room for some drinks" I said catching my breath. I see Amy's mother pull her aside while I make her father, brother, and sister in law their drinks.

"I really like him Amy" my mom said after pulling me aside. "Thanks mom." I said cutting up and crushing pecans for the top of the Turtle pie we made. She notices the ring on my hand. "Are you two getting married?" She asked joyfully. "Actually yes mom we are" I said smiling. "When we're you gonna tell me!" She said hugging me. "Tonight but please keep this a secret mom." She nods the doorbell rings again. "I got it Ames!" Knuckles said giving my father his drink. I dust of my hands and dress again walking to the hallway. A beautiful light red female echidna with purple eyes walks in with a older red echidna with dark blue eyes hugging knuckles. Another female echidna walks in with red fur and light blue eyes and male echidna looking similar to her but with darker red fur walks in with a beautiful white echidna with green eyes hugging him as well. "So I'm dying to meet your girlfriend where is she?" Said the young female echidna. "Relax Kimber-lee" the older echidna said. Knuckles smiles as I walk over. "Mom, Dad, Mace, Veronica, Kim, this is my wonderful girlfriend Amy. Ames my this is my father Locke, my mother Ellen, my older brother and sister Mace and Kimber-lee Kim for short, and Maces wife Veronica." "Nice to meet you all" I said smiling. His mother and sister walk up to me looking up and down then smiled and they both hug me. "SHES BEAUTIFUL!" They both said. We all started laughing.
I was very surprised on how easy everyone was getting along. Dinner went well conversation's continued on through the night but me and Ames had one more thing to tell them. Amy nods in approval and we both get up and stand In front of the tree. The room gets quiet when Amy taps her wine glass. "So we are happy to have you all here and meet one another. Sorry not good with words. (Everyone giggles) but Um amy and I have something to tell you all." I give Amy the floor. "We're getting married!" She said excitedly. Our moms jump up screaming for joy and hug us both tight. Dad and Asher look at each other and nod in approval my sister, honey, and Veronica jump up hugging us and admiring Amy's ring. My brother and James hugs us and pat me on the back. James gives his little sister a kiss on the forehead. "Congratulations sis" he smiled.

It was a wonderful Christmas to remember until it wasn't
