"Come, Anna. I want you to meet someone." As Mamma, with both arms spread out wide, kneeled unto the floor and ushered me on her awaiting figure.
As I stalked my way towards her, I willed my small baby legs to walk faster, almost hopping due to the obvious excitement. By the time I reached her, I leaped into her awaiting arms and hurriedly spoke the question I desperately wanted to ask her, "Who is it, Mamma? Who?!"
A small chuckle bubbled past her lips when she noticed that I was getting antsy in her hold. Looking at her face, I couldn't help but admire the two small dents appearing on either side of her mouth. Dimples. Luckily, I inherited that one particular feature of hers. "It's Alex, sweetheart." she replied.
"Alex?" I held back the disappointment in my voice, afraid to offend Mamma. A boy? I was secretly hoping it's a girl, "Is it a new playmate of mine? 'cuz that would be so cool." I snickered. Thinking about it, having a new friend to play with isn't so bad. I was getting sick of my brothers treating me like a baby.
She smiled then shook her head while saying, "I'm afraid not, sweetheart. Alex is a dear friend of mine since childhood."
"A childhood friend?" I asked, my eyes squinted with suspicion. It's quite rare for Mamma to be this extremely happy when talking about someone.
She nodded, still smiling on full blast.
"Let's go?" she coaxed. Straightening her hold on me, She stood up and lead us toward the car, with bodyguards lurking around every corner.
