SASHA
"You can do this." I whisper as I look at myself in the bathroom mirror, taking a big breath before letting it out slowly.
It's a Tuesday morning, and I'm preparing for my first day on the job, something I still can't believe is true.
After more than two weeks have passed without a peep from the the Lewis publishing, I've written it off as a lost cause, feeling slightly dejected. I've been so sure that I would get the job, even though it was a long shot, what with being blacklisted by the asshole of my former boss. But there had just been something in Mr. Lewis that told me that the man couldn't care less about what a jerk like Hanks thinks. But, it appears that I was wrong, and the realization has hit me hard, as the doubts crept in.
Would I even be able to find another job in my chosen profession or would I be forced to switch to something else, unless I decide to move to another city, something I refuse to even think about. I have just found my brother, and nothing, absolutely nothing is going to pull me away from him, let alone a job.
I've been still half-asleep when the call finally came, sipping at my coffee while perusing the job ads half-heartedly when my phone suddenly rang.
To say that I had been surprised once I picked it up only to hear Mr. Lewis's dark, husky voice on the other side of the line asking if I could start the next day would be an understatement.
I all but dropped the phone in my elation, the urge to squeal at an all-time high, though I managed to control myself, well, at least long enough to confirm before the call ended and I found myself jumping up and down my apartment, the squeal erupting out of my throat.
So, here I am now, standing in front of the mirror, trying and failing to calm down as I glance at my watch. I'm supposed to be in the office in two hours and just the thought has my nerves tingling.
I'm nervous.
I so want this day to go well, knowing full well that this is probably my last chance to work in publishing if I'm planning to stay in NY, and the pressure is real.
I shake my head as I stand up straight, straightening my tie before pulling on the jacket.
Everything will be okay, I assure myself as I pull my shoes on and grab my messenger bag.
It has to be.

It is a truth universally known that when something can go wrong it will. And man, did all go wrong...
The day started out okay.
As soon as I arrived, I was sent into the HR to sign the employment contract and get my security card, before climbing to the top floor where Mr. Lewis's office is located.
I was greeted by the top floor receptionist, a girl called Claire who showed me to my desk and informed me of what I was supposed to do seeing as Mr. Lewis still hasn't arrived, something about a breakfast meeting being mentioned, though for the life of me, I couldn't remember what she had said, since my mind started spinning as soon as my eyes fell on the absolute mountain of scripts and paperwork sitting on what was supposed to be my desk. At least I thought that it was there, somewhere, buried, the poor thing.
I, nevertheless, nodded, thanking her profusely before her phone started to ring and she had to go, leaving me alone.
I turned back to my desk, letting out a breath before I sat my coffee on the smallest patch of wood peaking out under the mountain and then made myself comfortable.
