No One But Me

Betty POV:
As I followed the single drop of rain that was flowing down the window, I began to slowly realize how much of a mess I have made. I had slept with a man and made sure to get pregnant by him only to make another man who is no longer interested in me believe that he is about to be a father. The silence that surrounded both me and Veronica as we drove was driving me insane but then again I knew that I needed to face reality, I needed to tell the truth about this baby. Until I could go into further thought, Veronica began to speak, making me look away from the window and over towards her.
"What was that?" I asked her. "Sorry I was a bit out of it" I then added with a slight chuckle causing Veronica to slightly smile back at him but not taking her eyes off the road. "Don't you worry, I was just asking if you had a name for your little boy?" She then asks. "Oh no, I haven't real-" I then began to say but quickly replaced my smile with a frown as I creased my eyebrows together. I looked over at her once again with a puzzling look and I could sense that Veronica immediately grew tense "Wait....How did you know I was having a boy?" I then asked her trying to recollect every single detail of the conversation we had back in the diner. Veronica sat there in silence but then giggled causing me to freak out a bit internally until she looked over at me for a brief moment then placed her eyes back on the road. "Silly, everyone in town knows what you are having. Come on Betty, you should know the type of town we live in by now." She said in such a casual voice. I continued to look over at her for a few more seconds but she seemed to ease up a bit so I decided to believe her and tried to ignore the way her shoulders relaxed and the way she let out a sigh as soon as I relaxed in my seat. I don't really know Veronica so I really have no reason not to trust her but my intuition has always been right. I continued to get lost in my thoughts once again and slowly averted my attention back out the window when suddenly we breaked quite harshly. "What the hell Veronica" I yelled out as I placed my hands onto the dashboard and looked back over at her for the millionth time and that was when I noticed how hard she was gripping the steering wheel and how nervously she was looking out the window, I looked over to where she was looking at and immediately felt myself get pale when I saw him. "Jughead" I whispered to myself. My breathing got so intense and felt like my legs grew numb but nothing made me feel worse than when I saw Jughead straightened himself out and began to walk over at me with a smile on his face. "Lock the door." I pleaded to Veronica and instantly I heard a click. I closed my eyes and let out a sigh of relief when suddenly I felt the cold breeze from the outside hitting the right side of my body. I slowly opened my eyes and began to breathe heavily as my eyes landed on him. I quickly looked back over at Veronica with a panicked expression only to see the tall Serpent known as Sweet Pea standing next to Veronica and that was when I realized that she was in on it too. I let out a single tear when suddenly I saw was black and no one was to blame but myself for what was yet to come.
