As I emerged from the darkness that had swallowed me whole I saw two blinking faces staring at me. One was Rusty's, completely emotionless, his eyes were peering at me behind his round glasses and I realised his hair had been trimmed lately and was styled in curtain bangs. Easton's face was one of clear concern. His eyes, which were like a pool of tantalising water, gazed into mine. "Are you ok?" His voice wafted to my ears. I nodded.
My body ached all over. And my head was banging. I was out of breath, though I hadn't done much but fall. My hair was drooping into my face and I was shivering with cold. Rusty took his long brown blazer jacket and covered me up. The jacket smelled of rain and old books. It was oddly comforting to know Rusty was doing something for me.
They had propped me up against the wall. "I'm gonna be here for you" Easton assured me "Should I call an ambulance?" Rusty looked at him. I could sense a hint of worry in his voice. And I don't know why, but it made me happy. Easton peered at me before shaking his head. "He's ok". Rusty nodded looking uncomfortable. We sat in silence as I regained my breath.
"He isn't talking much, are you sure? He normally has a lot to say" Rusty teased.
I smiled.
