Today I felt light. I smiled at strangers, sang in the street, I didn't even make a snarky remark when Rose prattled on about how you can't just say pink (Apparently theirs too many different shades to just describe something as pink). As we were walking down the corridor Rose stopped and gave me a hug. "I guess now everything's been solved you feel a lot better. I do too. I feel free somehow" she confessed smiling up at me. I smiled back "I can feel" I chuckled. She laughed back. I felt elated, on top of the world.

I saw Max walking our way in the distance and smiled at him. Then Max came up to me and did the unthinkable. He kissed me. Electric flowed through my veins. And when I felt nothing could get better it did. "You know Rusty, that day, I was talking about you" he smiled up at me. I laughed, "Really, cause I was wondering if I could ask you and Easton" I looked down at his glowing face. And we kissed again our hands linking together as if we are one. "ER EXCUSE ME" a voice boomed out. And our kiss broke apart.

Standing opposite us was Rose. She was holding her phone up as if she was about to take a video. "I wasn't ready to do it again" she commanded. I glared at her. "Fuck off Rose," I said jokingly. Rose turned to leave and that's when I realised that I was a shit friend to Rose all those years, I never even made jokes. "Hey Rose, I'm joking" I laughed. She turned around smiling ear to ear. "Hurry up then, KISS" she exclaimed. And so we did. And I enjoyed it.

The day passed in happy shots. And by the end of the school day, I felt drunk. With happiness. A feeling I had never felt even before my brother died. As I left school I saw Easton sitting under a silk cotton tree reading a book. It was an ethereal sight. I didn't really take him as a reader . He seemed to be reading One Of Us Is Lying. It was a popular book, I liked it. The sun streamed down on him making his skin a golden brown. I could see every swoop and swish of his dark curls. His lips were slightly pursed and his eyes were squinting in concentration. He looked comfortable where he sat, in the soft patch of grass in between the giant roots of the tall tree.

I approached him quietly. His head shot up when I stood on a branch. I smiled at him. But to my surprise, he didn't smile back. He frowned, snapping his book shut before standing up. "Easton?" I said questioning his weird reaction to my presence.

"Get away from me" he whispered taking a step away.

"Is this because I kissed max?"

"I don't associate with murderers " he spat at me.

My heart stopped and I fell back as if I'd been violently shoved. I felt dizzy and everything swam in front of me "Murderer?" I murmured touching my lips.

"You heard me. stay the fuck away from me or I will tell your little secret. And stay away from Max too. He doesn't need to be affected by your bullshit. You of all people. I should have seen it coming. Max had bad vibes from you at the start but I didn't listen, now he's attached to you"

I hyperventilated as my hands shook violently. They were raised above my head as if Easton was going to strike me. He didn't he trudged past me dropping a piece of paper at my feet.

"Pathetic".
