"Karlie. Karlie, wake up." I hear Jacks voice but it sounds miles away. "Karlie?" It comes in clearer. I open my eyes to see Jack starring at me. I'm laying flat on my back look up at him.
"What happened?" I ask. I try to bring my hands to my head but I can't. That's right I'm tied up. I struggle to get then out and Jack comes and unties them.
"You were trying to get out of the rope and you just passed out." He says and finishes untying me. I push myself into a sitting position and I almost fall back again, but I ignore the pain and nausea and steady myself.
"I don't know what happened. But my head still really hurts." I complain.
"I think we're done for today." He says helping me off the ground and supporting me when I almost fall onto him. "Karlie, this isn't good. Do you know what you had today to eat?"
I think for a moment. All I really had was Starbucks. But my dad gave it to me. He wouldn't poison me. "Nope. Nothing really. I was about to eat when you came to the house."
Jack nods. "You're hungry right. That's all it is then. I think you're passing out from lack of energy. Let's get you home and you can eat something."
"Ya. That's it." I lie. I'm not hungry. I ate plenty last night. I've gone hungry before, from my dad not giving me food as punishment. But I have never passed out from it. This is something else. "But what about tonight?" I ask feeling my head throb and changing the subject.
"...will be fine. Come on kid, let's get you home." I try to walk but my knees come out and I fall onto him again. "You can't walk home." He declares. He picks me up and starts to carry me. I curl into his arms and try to block out the pain. His warm body and fresh scent makes me feel fine. Then my head screams in pain and it hurts so bad that instead of actually screaming I pass out.

"Hey, we're here." Jack says gently. I open my eyes and he sets me down. I see that we've made it back to my house. "You'll be fine. Everything will be fine." He sounds like he's assuring himself more then me. "Let's get inside and get you some food." He suggests.
"Um ya okay." We walk to the house and I actually manage to walk by myself. I open the door. Jack has never been inside my house before. I pause before I walk in.
"Karlie?" Jack asks. I walk through and head to the kitchen. "I'll get you something." Jack says.
I step in front of him. "No it's okay, really." I don't want him to worry.
"Karlie, it's fine. Are you alright?" He asks as I grip my head.
I nod, then sit down at the counter. "Just need to sit. I'm really tired." I say dreamily.
Jack ignores my protests and instead opens the fridge and gets me some left over meatloaf from last night. He warms it up the plops it in front of me. After I'm finished eating I feel really tired. I start to fall doze off.
"You need a nap. Can you get to bed all right?" He asks.
"I'll manage." I look at him, "Now go. Before my dad gets home."
Jack just looks at me. "Karlie, what if this is more serious? I can't just leave you."
"Jack it's fine." I push him towards the door. "Go." I feel like I'm about to pass out but I try to ignore it.
