it's not such a bad feeling

Also, I wouldn't mind the idea.

Those words repeated in Basil's head for hours. He couldn't even eat dinner peacefully; all he could think of was finding out the intentions behind those words.

Was it an approval...?

Is it possible for Sunny to like him back...?

That darn boy, leaving Basil to interpret it himself. But he didn't wanna get ahead of himself and assume things. So what is it, Sunny? What did you mean?

It was time to pull out the diary.

January 21st

I'm bored, I miss Sunny.

Ah...he'd forgotten to continue it earlier because someone came without warning.

He's driving me insane. I asked him what he'd do if I told him I like him, and I swear he was asleep when I did...but he heard me. He heard me!!!! He even said he won't mind the idea. Like, what?!?! He wouldn't mind if I like him?? Does this mean there's a possibility that..we can..I DON'T KNOW!! My heart can't take this. I can't even write properly right now. I'll turn in for the night, I guess... I hope he's sleeping well... and not stay up again.

Closing his diary, he tried to fall asleep. The next day, Hero invited everyone to have a picnic in the park.

--

They laid out their picnic blanket near the playground. Hero baked some biscuits, and Kel was in charge of their drinks. Only he had orange joe, though. The others didn't find it very pleasant and settled for some juice.

Sunny sat beside Basil.

They felt the breeze of the cold winter wind, and Sunny loved his warmth. They all enjoyed the fresh air, people doing their own things, little animals running around. Though there are bittersweet feelings from missing Mari, they're doing their best to go back to how they were.

Sunny was just resting his head on Basil's shoulder as he always did.

"Hey..." Basil said quietly so as to not let others hear. "About last night,"

"Hm? I meant it."

"You...you were very vague, you know."

"Being liked by you isn't such a bad thing...to me."

The blond hesitated. "Even if we're both boys...?"

"I don't know, I just...it's not such a bad feeling."

Basil was silent for a bit. "Then...is there...a chance...?"

"I thought about it," he looked up the sky. "And I'm not really sure. I don't want you hoping...if you get hurt, I'd never forgive myself for it. But...are you okay with that?"

He smiled at the thought of Sunny being actually worried about him for that. "I'm perfectly fine just liking you. I still get to do this kind of stuff..."

He tried to find Sunny's hand, interlocking his fingers with his.

"It's...it's a nice feeling," Sunny admitted. "Basil..."

"Yeah?" he turned to face him, but the look on Sunny's face was different. It seemed like he really wanted something.

"Can you...make me like you before I go back home?"

The wind blew a little stronger after he said those words. Basil couldn't register it for a few seconds. He didn't fully understand that Sunny wanted to like him back.

"Lovebirds! Ugh!" Kel teased, drinking his orange joe.

"You just don't have any friend to do that with, bro. Maybe with me?" Hero joked, trying to hold Kel's hand, but his little brother avoided him in embarrassment.

"You're sick! Stop that!"

Aubrey laughed. She looked at Basil, who was still processing what happened. She kept quiet, rooting for him.

"Basil?" Sunny asked.

"W-What happens if I fail...?"

The boy laughed. "It's too early to think of that, don't you think?"

"U-Um... I..."

"Make me like you, Basil."
