The family that had been lively all morning was now silent at the dinner table.

The table was filled with burnt dishes.

This was to be expected: When Mother Kim left the kitchen she brought her spatula with her, then she later fainted, causing the cooking food to go unchecked.

After eating a truly unforgettable breakfast, Father Kim went out to his motorcycle to drive to the market and buy food for their New Year's dinner.

"Uncle, where are you headed? Let me drive you." Lisa was uneasy when he saw Father Kim pushing a motorcycle out without a helmet in sight.

"No need, I'm going to go to the market to buy some food. It's quite close." Father Kim refused.

"Let me accompany you. My car can hold more food, it'll be much more convenient." Lisa continued to persuade him.

"The country roads are narrow, your car won't be able to drive through." Father Kim eventually told him the truth.

"Oh." Suddenly things became awkward.

As Father Kim climbed on his motorcycle, he looked back at Lisa and asked: "Your aunt asked if you had any favorite dishes."

"Ah?" Lisa froze for a moment then hurried to answer, flowers blooming in the background. "I...I like to eat fish."

"Alright." Father Kim started the bike then quickly disappeared into the country trail.

Lisa looked at the retreating figure, his handsome face sporting a warm smile.

"What's with that silly smile?" Taehyung suddenly appeared behind Lisa.

"Nothing." Lisa replied.

"Hey, lend me your car, I want to go shopping in the city." As the brother-in-law, Taehyung didn't bother trying to be polite to the future son-in-law.

Without any hesitation, Lisa took out his keys and gave it to him.

"Thanks!" Grabbing the offered keys, he went to the car and left.

When Mother Kim heard the car drive off, she came out with a rag still in her hands. When she saw Lisa still in the yard, she immediately knew who was drove the car away. "His driving is abysmal, you should've been more cautious when you lent it to him."

"It's alright, the car's insured." Lisa felt that he was being idle, so he asked: "Auntie, it there anything I can do?"

"Then go with Jennie and paste some couplets." Mother Kim thought for a while, then eventually said.

"Great!" Lisa smiled and walked back into the house happily. After getting Jennie, the two began to paste couplets around the house.

(T/N Couplets are poetry lines written vertically on red paper. People paste it on doors to bring good luck and well-wishes.)

Every courtyard in the village was open during this time, and neighbors often vist as they pass by. But the number of people going through was a bit more than usual.

An auntie came to take a look with squinted eyes, a child laughed as he ran by, and a little girl blushed as she peeked through their door.

Jennie pondered all this then turned towards Lisa: "Did you happen to meet anyone in the yard this morning?"

"I met an auntie, and we talked a little." Lisa replied.

"What did you say?" Jennie asked.

"I didn't say anything, I just said I'm your boyfriend." Lisa was a little puzzled. "What's wrong?"
