The weather was getting warmer. Trees throughout the streets were gradually sprouting green shoots, the colorful scenery improving the mood of the various passerby.
Jennie drove along the green streets, opening a window the let the spring breeze in.
Today Joy was getting discharged. Because of her late broadcasts, they decided to pick her up late in the morning. Irene told Jennie to just drive to her apartment instead and wait for her to bring the mother-daughter pair home.
By the way: After a few days of serious thought, Joy decided to take her child and live away from her home for the time being.
As she was nearing the apartment, Irene suddenly called. Jennie figured she was just reporting that they were about to leave the hospital.
"I'm ten minutes away, you-"
"Jen, come to the hospital right now, that scummy man is trying to steal the child!" Before Jennie even finished her sentence, Irene cut her off with a roar.
Jennie slammed on the breaks and parked on the roadside.
"I'll be right there. Don't let them take the child out of the hospital." Jennie said.
"Right!"
Because it was currently in the middle of the workday, there weren't many cars out on the road. Disregarding a few traffic laws, Jennie turned her steering wheel and made an abrupt U-turn, heading straight to the hospital.
City Hospital, Neonatal Department, in a certain ward.
"Mom, give me my baby." Joy pleaded her mother.
"Come home with me." Mother Joy countered.
"Mom..." Joy glanced at Sungjae and Mother Sungjae nearby. She wasn't foolish. She knew what they wanted her to do, but she couldn't make herself go back home.
"Auntie, are you just going to ignore Joy's wishes and directly gift wrap your daughter and granddaughter to that Sungjae?" Irene unceremoniously attacked Mother Joy.
"How can a woman talk like this? This child is Sungjae's and there's nothing wrong with keeping the family together." Mother Joy had long been fed up with Irene's aggressive speaking, so she replied unkindly: "You're just an outsider trying to destroy other people's families, what kind of heartless person are you?"
When Irene heard this, she was so angry she chocked.
"Joy, come home with Auntie Yook. I'll help you and Sungjae arrange another wedding." Sungjae's mother also advised.
"Auntie Yook, I know you've been very kind to me." Joy looked at Sungjae's mother. She had grown up with this aunt taking care of her, in fact, there were plenty of times Auntie Yook felt like her actual mother. Her childhood was spent with Sungjae and the ever tender Auntie Yook, making her treat this auntie with respect. "If you want to see the baby, you're welcome to visit anytime, but having a relationship with Sungjae is no longer possible."
"Joy..." Hearing Joy say this, Sungjae's face turned pale and he couldn't help but yell.
"Why are you yelling..." Irene scolded.
"Shut up!" Auntie Yook knew her son well: he prioritized saving his reputation more than anything. She regretted letting him act like this so much that she wanted to cough up blood, but she couldn't help but try to persuade Joy: "Joy, you can be rest assured, I'll watch him like a hawk, Sungjae wouldn't dare bully you any longer.
