Laala had been taking it since she got in the hospital.
To Hibiki and Shougo, it was scary to be back here again so soon, really.
The doctor rested his hand on the curtain, tugging it back ever so slightly. "I'll let you be alone with her. Just mind the wires."
They two were left to enter the rest of the room by herself. They were scared, in a way. How beat up would she be this time? How pale and fragile and defenseless would he appear to be this time? How many IVs and endless cords would she be hooked up to now?
Hibiki pulled back the curtain gently, preparing herself for what she would see.
There Laala was, surrounded by thin hospital linens, gown open to make way for the many wires and pads attached to her chest. She lay sedated, a breathing tube shoved down her mouth to help her with what her lungs couldn't do on their own. A steady drip of IV fluids entered her arm, which was resting at her side.
She was just so damn pale. It scared her how lifeless he looked, how the only thing keeping alive was a machine. That was the only connection between life and death.
The only sound that filled the unsettling silence was the beep of the heart monitor. It was so familiar in a bad way.
They hated that thing.
Several hours had past. No sign of Laala waking up. Her family and friends came to see her.
Non was holding her sister's diary crying.
- "What happened, Non?"
Everyone asked in worry. She didn't answer, just give Shougo the thing on her hands.
- "You should read it, Shougo-san." - Non sobbed but tried to talk normally.
Shougo was surprised then flipped it. When he reached page 32, he was totally shocked. He dropped it afterwards, his whole face was pale.
