Trouble Don't Last Always

It's been a month since I've been in the hospital, and let me tell you, the beds are horrible, and don't get me started on the food. Yuck!

Today I was told by my doctor that I can finally go home. Thank you, lord! Because sitting here was taking a toll on my mind.

I'm ecstatic that in a few hours, I'll be home with my son, and I'll be able to live life like a normal human being.

was a very hard decision, but I decided to keep the baby. I've been through a lot lately and having an abortion would've just made me even more depressed.

I called Marquis to come to pick me up because the thought of getting behind the wheel and driving again so soon terrified me for some odd reason. When we finally arrived at the house, it was pitch black inside. I fumbled around for the light switch and turned on the living room lights. "Surprise!" everyone yelled in unison.

I was in complete shock. I couldn't believe all these people came to see me. I hadn't seen or heard from some of my family members in years, so it was an incredibly emotional moment to see them here, happy and crying tears of joy to see me.

"I'ma go upstairs and see if Tre's awake," Marquis whispered to me.

"Okay." He kissed me on the cheek, then proceeded to go and check on Trevante.

I walked around the room, greeting and thanking everyone for coming. I started to get hot, so I removed my coat to get a little more comfortable. I heard a few gasps from people around me, and judging by the looks on a few of their faces, I'm guessing Marquis didn't tell anyone about my pregnancy.

As I was putting my coat away on the rack, I saw Marquis coming over to me with Trevante in his arms.

"Mommy!" Tre squealed excitedly, before bolting out of Marquis's arms to get to me. I was so focused on Trevante, that I didn't notice Marquis's mom standing right next to me.

"Marquis, you didn't tell us about this," She said rubbing my belly before hugging me. A few others came over to try and rub my baby bump but I gave Marquis a look, hinting to him that I was uncomfortable. I could've spoken up, but for some reason, I froze.

"Come on guys, don't be awkward," He said, grabbing a hold of my hand and pulling me away from the crowded area.

He went through the house introducing me to some of his other family members. Most of them were nice. Some were stuck up but I didn't pay too much attention to it.

"Thank you for throwing me this amazing party!" I said to Marquis before planting a kiss on his lips.

"It kind of wasn't my idea!" he said scratching the back of his head.

"Okay, well, whose idea was it?"

"Your--"
There was a loud knock at the door just as he was starting to speak. I was getting ready to go and see who it was but he demanded that I stayed back and let him answer it. I watched as he looked through the peephole, then turned to me with the biggest smile on his face.

"Whose at the--" I started to ask but stopped.  I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw who was on the other end. I thought the next time I saw my sister, Lauren, would be in another 10 years or so. We said some hateful things to one another the last time we spoke, which was eight years ago!

She hugged Marquis, then rushed to my side. "I'm so happy you're alive!" She says nearly squeezing me to death. "You had me worried!" She sniffled.

"I know and I'm so sorry!" I apologized.
