"Y/n you're back!"

"Why are you saying that as if i've been gone forever? It was only two hours.."

"Two hours is a lot! And you were just going in and out right?" Ayame said, clinging onto Y/n as they both shared a laugh. "I just had lunch, that was all." Y/n patted her head before she pulled away from Y/n. "Mkay, are you still full? We still have a bit leftover from lunch."

"No i'm good. It just feels a bit..weird not having a ring on my finger.." she mumbled, glancing down to her hand as Ayame hummed. "It's better than getting cheated on though.." Y/n turned her head over to Ayame. "I'll be in the room."

"Don't stay in there too long, I need to see your pretty face once in a while!" Ayame said, attempting to cheer Y/n up as she watched her smile. "I won't." Y/n then walked herself up the stairs and making her to the room Ayame and Komori left for her.

Once she was inside, she gently closed the door and plopped herself on the bed. She heard her phone ring, letting it play out as a few seconds went by. It rang again and this time she reached for it in her pocket, reading the contact name before answering.

"Hey, I was just checking up on you. It's been a few days since I heard from you and I just wanted to know if you were alright.."

"Yeah i'm all good!" she says as she's under her blanket on the bed, holding in her tears. "Are you sure? I don't want to be rude but..you sound like you're crying L/n.." he said in a whisper, hearing her sniffle in the background.

"I swear i'm not Sakusa! This movie is just kinda sad!" she played it off with a laugh. "What's the movie about then?" he asked, wondering if she'll come up with an immediate answer. "A dog.." she said into the phone, hearing him let out a small laugh.

"Is it really?"

"No.." she heard him sigh. "I'll pick you up in an hour, after practice." he said, looking up at his teammates who were on the other side of the court as her eyes widened. "What? Why?" she quickly asked.

"To cheer you up of course."

"Sakusa you don't have to, i'm fine—" she said before he interrupted her. "Just wait until I pick you up okay? I'll see you later, bye Y/n." she heard the call end, dropping her phone in front of her before pulling the blanket off her body.

"He's so nice..!"

———

"Sakusa? What are you doing here?"

"I uhm well uhm I was uhm.." he started to fumble his words as both him and Ayame heard Y/n come down the stairs. "Ah..you're taking her out..cool!" she said as Y/n gave Ayame a small wave before heading out the door.

"I thought you were lying for a second..but then again it's you." she said, looking over to him. "What does that even mean?" he chuckled. "You're just sarcastic..that's all." she lightly smiled. "I'm not.." he said as she gave him a look. "Okay only to my teammates but that's only because they piss me off sometimes."

"I can see. When we had the practice match I wasn't shocked to see that you haven't changed."

"Hm? What does that mean?"

"It means you're still the same person I met in high school." she tilted her head to the side, glancing at him and chuckling as they got into the car. "Miya says otherwise, he claims i'm more of a jerk..which is wrong because he's just stupid." he said, rolling his eyes then turning on the car.

"I remember in high school when he claimed to be the smartest kid yet he was in the lowest class. He may be a bit dumb—"

"A bit?"

"Yes a bit!" she laughed. "But he's very skilled at volleyball, at least some part of his brain is going somewhere." she said, hearing him snicker. "So where are we going?" she asked him as he drove out the driveway.

"It'll be a surprise."

"I don't like surprises!"
