The Paladins and Allura raced to the coordinates and were met with chaos when they arrived. A tall, skyscraper-looking building is currently engulfed in flames. "At the current rate of acceleration, it appears that the building will collapse in on itself in roughly ten doboshes."
Lance sighed, "Oh good, we have ten hours to put it out."
"A dobosh is a minute!" Pidge yelled.
"Oh..."
"Lance, go get your lion," Shiro ordered. "We can use the ice from Blue to put out the flames. Hunk, get yours too, we may need the Yellow Lion's claws to help hold up the structure should it begin to collapse."
"On it!" the two runoff in the direction of their lions.
"Pidge, scan the building for inhabitants."
She tapped on her wrist computer for a moment. "It looks like a lot of people on the lower floors were able to escape. It looks like the only people left are on two groups on floors 6 and 7."
"Ok," Shiro put his helmet on. "I'm going to go in and get them. Pidge, keep me updated to their location. Allura and Keith, administer first aid to the people who have already gotten out."
"What?" Keith looked at him in horror. "No. No, you can't go in there!"
"Keith, I have to." He smiled down at him sadly. "I promise... I will come back..."
"You can't." He grabbed onto Shiro's arm, and he could see the tears running down his face.
"8 doboshes until building's collapse." Pidge updated.
"Keith, I'm sorry, there are people in there." He pulled his arm free.
Keith looked down, "No... I'm sorry..." he pulled out his Bayard and shot Shiro in the shoulder.
"Keith!" Pidge yelled, but he had already run into the building.
"Shiro, are you alright?!" Allura knelt down next to him.
"That idiot!" he tried to sit up but winced when he moved his shoulder.
"It's only a minor burn," Allura assured as she assessed the damage. "Luckily, your armor shielded you from the worst of the blast."
"I need to get in there..." he tried to stand again, but his shoulder was quickly becoming more painful to move.
"No, you're not," Allura commanded. "You are already hurt, you would not be of any use in there, and would most likely wind up getting yourself killed."
"What was Keith thinking?!" Pidge glared ahead at the burning building.
"He was trying to protect me," Shiro said sadly.
"Well shooting someone in the shoulder sure is a funny way of protecting them." Allura spat.
Shiro sighed, "There's nothing we can do about it now. Pidge, patch us into Keith so we can guide him through."
"Ok..." she began typing on her computer. "Keith, can you hear us?"
"Keith?" Shiro asked. "How's it going in there, buddy?"
"Why isn't he responding?" Allura asked.
"I'm not sure..." Pidge continued typing. "It looks like the heat is messing with his headset. He's not able to receive any of our messages."
"Scan the building. Find out where he is." Shiro was starting to become worried. He hadn't even considered Keith would have done something this stupid.
"It looks like he has made his way up to the 5th floor." She responded.
"Lance, Hunk, how close are you?"
"We're about 3 doboshes out." Hunk replied.
"How much time do we have?" Lance asked.
"Roughly 5 doboshes. Give or take." Pidge answered.
"Where is Keith now?" Shiro asked.
Pidge glanced at her scanner, "He's on the 6th floor. He must have cleared a path because some of the Olkarions are starting to make their way down the building."
Shiro nodded, "Allura, be ready to provide medical assistance as the victims are leaving the building.
"On it."
After a few seconds, a group of people run out the door and make their way over to them. They are coughing as Allura slowly helps them sit down and looks over their injuries.
"What's going on in there?" Shiro asks them. "Did you see the red paladin?"
One of them nods in-between coughs. "Yes, he... he saved us. A beam had fallen in front of our door. The red paladin removed it and helped us make our way to the exit."
"Where was he headed after he left you?"
"He was making his way to the 7th floor." Another responded. "He said there were still some people trapped upstairs."
Suddenly, before Shiro was able to ask any more questions, the building started making a loud cracking noise.
"What's going on?!" Allura yelled.
"The building is starting to collapse!" Pidge yelled, "With the increased movement, the structure is giving way, faster than my previous estimates!"
"Where is Keith now?!" Shiro was frantic now.
"They're all on the third floor!" Pidge yelled.
The building gave out another large crack as pieces began to fall off the sides.
"Lance and Hunk where are you?! We need the lions!"
"We're almost there! Just a couple more ticks!"
"Location?!"
"Second floor!"
"They're going to make it..."
"Building collapse in 5...
4...
3...
2..."
"Look! Over there!"
"1!"
