Backfire on the Empire

Karina POV

I know Lucius was lying. He had to be. My mother was my real mother. She was the only one I'd know.

Lucius was a killer and a liar. Everything that came out of his no good mouth was a lie. I couldn't believe Cookie out up with him as much as she did. I was still surprised Anika put up with him at all with her dead ass.

I walked into the Lyon mansion wearing a loose fitting black long sleeved dress that hung off me. It was mid thigh length and had no shape to it, hut that was how it was supposed to be. It flared out at the bottom and was extremely comfortable. I had on some knee high boots and my hair was in two buns on either side of my head. I wore no make-up and no jewelry.

"Hey Karina." Kristy said.

She wore some high waisted black joggers with a hello kitty crop top and a black under shirt. She wore black and pink Nikes and her hair, which was now in thick twists, was up in a large bun at the top of her head. She had on her glasses and some dark red lipstick.

"Hello family." I said nonchalantly greeting everybody at once.

Thuggin do not show out at this meeting.

"Hey Thuggin" Cookie said.

"Fu...ehem. I mean, forgive my lateness. I had to take care of some business." I said.

"Like getting your lil gang member out of jail." Cookie said.

"He's my god father. I had to get him out. He's innocent." I lied.

"Bullshit." Cookie said. "But thank you for doing what you did to that bitch." She finished.

"You're welcome. Where's that demand you married?" I asked Cookie.

"He's on his way with your mother" Cookie said with a smirk.

"I can't believe my mother wasn't my mother." Kristy said.

"Our." I corrected.

"Our." Kristy said nodding.

"Hey baby. I missed you." Hakim said walking into the room with Jamal and Andre not far behind.

"Hey sweetheart." How's it going?" I asked.

"It's fine now that you're here. Dad's on his way. He won't tell us who your "mother" is. He just said we'll see." Hakim said.

"Aw shit." Andre said.

"Yea. I know dad. This sounds like some shit." Jamal said.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." Hakim said dapping his brother.

"True that." I said sitting down on the couch and crossing my thick legs.

In walked Lucius with Chaka Khan. He had the biggest grin on his face and she looked nervous. I stood up and so did everyone else in the room. He couldn't be serious.

I know this fool did not bring Chaka Khan in here to pretend she my momma.

"Karina and Kristy Lovely, or should I say Karina and Kristy Khan." Lucius said.

"Oh my god." Kristy's gullible ass said covering her mouth and staring at Chaka like she was in the presences of Jesus himself.

"You're shitting me right Lucius?" I said looking at him with a look of anger.

"For real Lucius. You can't be serious. This is going too damn far." Cookie said.

"Yea this is a bit much even for you." Jamal said.

"No I'm serious. This is your mother." he said.

"Yup he's shitting y'all." Hakim said.

"I'll explain." Chaka said. "I was on tour and I left you with my nanny. Your siblings were with their aunt. I hired a nanny. When I came back from my tour, she was gone and you girls were gone. I searched for you. I couldn't let anyone know you were missing. The media would be all over it and try to make me look like a bad mother. Lucius found y'all and killed that bitch. She was going to kill y'all because she knew he knew what she did and she could go to jail. She knew y'all would hate her when y'all found out." Chaka said.

"Well if that's the case... why didn't he contact you and let you know what was up? Why didn't you come get us?" I asked.

"He did but y'all ran away. By the time I got there, y'all were gone." she said crying.

It was true, we did run away after Lucius and this other teen boy shot our mom. We thought we'd be next. In the hood, they will kill the whole family. They don't be giving a damn.

"Okay. But this is still fishy to me, so I want a DNA test." I said before walking out.

I wanted nothing more to do with all this. It had given me a head ache. Chaka Khan is not my mother. I just know they're lying. I just know it and I'm going to expose them and kill Lucius when I find out he lying. He killed Kristy and I's mother. He deserves to die.
