Her first impression of her husband was a person to be highly regarded. A man who had the world. He had a career that boosted his ego.  A hero. Straightforward with his intentions too. A quirk marriage. It was frowned upon. And yet, Enji insisted with a consuming passion. She has nary of affection towards the man.

"Do you like them?" A voice pulled her away from gazing out to the garden. "Those flowers."

Today was the day her marriage with him is being finalized. It was her parents who suggested to walk around with him. A futile attempt. This man didn't see her. It was her quirk. Rei turns her head towards him, and sees him looking out into the garden. She couldn't quite put a finger on his expression but he looked on at a spot, a gaze far away, and the frost quirk user was startled at the intense  longing flashed in his eyes.

And Rei, daughter of the Himura household, was entranced. It was a fleeting moment. . . Too fleeting for a yearning that lasted more than a decade. Rei desired to be the receiving end of his gaze. Mere milliseconds. That was all it took. What an unfair exchange.

Four kids. She thought that after giving him kids, most especially the kid he wanted, born with both their quirks, she thought that maybe he'd come to have some sort of affection for her. She was wrong. All it did was leave her on their bed all alone.

And when she attempts to hold his hand, he'd flinch away from her, he'd get a look like he was seeing a ghost as he stared at her. Rei only had one clue: your name. The name he called out the night of their honeymoon in the midst of passion. It hurt her. She tried to sleuth for that person, the very phantom that plagued her husband. The ghost she had to compete with.

Nothing.

How much hold did you have on Enji? How much have you carved your existence in him? How was she supposed to win his affections when she has no knowledge of who she was up against?

And it hurts.

Why didn't Enji marry you instead of her?

She could've saved herself from all this... Her hope is meager and small, that Enji will one day turn his head to her. So she did everything that could make him happy. She gave way to him, didn't utter a protest when he started training Touya, even if his training was brutal for a child. She didn't argue with him when he decided to stop training Touya, resulting to the boy's confusion. No matter how much it broke their eldest's heart. She turned a blind eye to Touya's turmoil, in hopes her husband would turn to her.

When Shouto was born, Enji's triumphant look dazzled her. Finally. And the grin he had on his face made it all worth it, or so she thought. And Shouto received so much of his attention that subconsciously, Rei doted on the youngest more than the others, this way maybe, she could share some of his attention on Shouto with her.

Kami, she was naive.

She gave everything for a mere possibility. What she has given for a mere probability. Her marriage was composed of 'maybes' for a husband's love who would never reciprocate.

So to you, the one person who owns all of Enji's heart, how was she supposed to take your place?

Eight year old Todoroki Shouto, was getting fed up with the way his father forced him to train. The boy wasn't even allowed to attend preschool and elementary. Endeavor, the Flame Hero, adamantly pushed to have him homeschooled to save the 10 minute ride to school for training. It was... vexing. Confusing. Annoying, even.

Endeavor. Father. It was hard to reconcile the two inspite of his young mind. Endeavor, the number 2 hero, who saved people every single day. Father who brought down spartan training on him the moment he could walk. His mind encapsulates the fact that a hero who is a father, would be harsh. Except that, sometimes, he hears Natsuo-nii playing ball in the gardens with Fuyumi-nee, and hears the carefree shouts of Touya-nii. Unfair.
