CHAPTER THREE

            I hate today’s schedule because I don't have lunch with Nikki and my other friends. My brother is going to force me to sit with him. That means that I have to seat near Brian.

            Class periods go by. It's time for lunch and I'm not happy what so ever."Sam over here." I already hear my brother voice from across the cafeteria when I walk through the cafeteria doors. I make my way through people and sat down next to him. I give a smile to everyone. Brian isn't here Thank The Lord. "Hey Sam" Zack said sitting in between Matt and I. I took out my sandwich from my brown paper bag. "Hey" I said not even looking at him. He grabbed my hand and matt look at him with a 'what the fuck do you think you're doing' face. "Hey since Brian is interested in you. I am... I mean would you...." Matt cut him off. Zack let go of my hand. “Whoa whoa whoa slow down there speed racer. Are you asking out my sister?" Zack nodded and my eyes widen.

            "I think you are the only guy I would actually let my sister date ever." Zack smiled at that with relief. I coughed caused them to turn their attention to me. "So what do say Sam? Would you like to go out with me?" Zack asked me all confident taking my hand in his. To think about it Zack was cute with his green eyes and black hair and his sweet bad boy attitude. Fuck it. “Sure why not" I accepted. He kissed my hand and I laughed. “Alright? You asked her and she said yes “jimmy said slamming his lunch tray onto the table. “You knew he was going to ask me?" He nodded smiling like an idiot. I was mad at him for a bit. No one can stay mad at jimmy for more than minute. "So where are you two kids going?" Matt asked like if he were my father. “Yeah, Where you taking me Zack and when? So I can tell my mom." I asked him.

            “I was thinking Mick's bowling lanes down on Main Street “I smiled at him for I liked the idea.”Cool sounds like we'll have ...." I was cut off by Brian slamming his tray on the table. "Stupid bitch. What a waste of my time." He said. “Fun" I finished my sentence.

            “What’s wrong man?" Matt asked him. “Julie dumped me for so called cheating on her. You guys know perfectly clear that I didn't do anything. I was with you guys the whole week. Girls are retarded. Hey Sam." He nodded at me. He noticed what he said “except for you” I bit into my sandwich and nodding.

            I thought things were going to be awkward but I was wrong. Not so awkward well a little. Maybe Zack can help forget about Brian. Zack handed me a piece of paper it said ‘FRIDAY AT 8’ in big letters. Wow he has bad penmanship. I smiled at him and nodded. He smiled back and saw his snake bites reflect the light coming from the sun. “I’m going to get something to drink.” I said getting up. “I’ll go with you” Zack got up as well. Matt handed me a dollar. “Can you get me water please” I nodded. “Thanks” I heard walking away.

            I walked over to the machine and put in a dollar getting matt’s water first. “You look beautiful today” Zack said leaning against the wall next to machine. “Uh, thanks Zack you look nice too.” I said grabbing the water. I put in another dollar and press the button for my juice. “I can’t wait for Friday.”He said trying to make small talk. “Me too” I smiled. I grabbed my juice and headed back to the table. I handed matt his water. I opened my drink and took a sip. Zack grabbed my hand under the table. He made me jump a little at the touch. He caught me off guard. He rubbed little circles on my hand with his thumb. He kept whispering things in my ear. He said very sweet things that he probably stole from somewhere but I didn’t mind. I just laughed for it was funny to watch his actions.

             The bell rang to end the period. I said bye to everyone and Zack hugged me. “Get a room” jimmy joked. Zack gave him the finger. I was smiling like an idiot walking away from the table and heading to the next class. “Nikki you’ll never believe what happen” I jumped up and down grabbing her arm. ”What?” she asked stopping me from jumping up and down. “Zack, asked me out.” I told her. “Yay!” she jumped with me. “Wait, I thought you said you liked Brian.” She stopped jumping. “I do but my brother says he no good for me. I think Zack is cute and he is very sweet. I was thinking he you know could help me get over Brian.” She nodded to everything I was saying. “Well if it makes you happy I’m all for it.” She hugged. I have a great friend. Last period was math and I already knew what the teacher was teaching. I just drew in my book until the bell rang to end school. Thank God schools over. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door. “Sam!” I heard someone call my name but I couldn’t tell who it was. It was matt. “What happened?” Matt, Jimmy, Brian and Zack walked up to me. “Brian, Jimmy and I have detention. Zack’s going to walk you home ok” I nodded.

            “Bye troublemakers” I said waving. We missed the bus so we actually had to walk home. There was awkward silence between Zack and me. “So” he dragged the word. “So” I said back. “Can I try something?” he stepped closer to me. “What?” I asked. “This” he lips crashed on to mine. His lips felt soft and I felt butterflies in my stomach. His snakebites sent chills down my spine. He broke apart from me “Sorry, I know we haven’t even gone on a date yet.” He looked away from me but I grabbed his head and kissed him hard on the lips. I didn’t care if we hadn’t gone on a date. I know him and it’s not like he is a complete stranger.

            He licked my bottom lip and I allowed him entrance. Our tongues played games and fought for dominance. I was enjoying every second of this moment. We broke apart and smiled at each other. “Wow, you didn’t mind did you?”I shook my head “no” I said. He hugged me tightly. “I have like for a long time” that made me feel bad for the fact I couldn’t say the same. ”Well I like you too” I said back. It wasn’t a complete lie. He pecked my lips. “Let’s get you home” We linked hands and walked home.

            Zack walked me home. We kissed and I felt butterflies. I love every second I spent with him. He made jokes and didn’t stop making me laugh all the way home. The last kiss in front of my doorstep was intense. Here I am on my bed staring at the ceiling just thinking about what happened five minutes ago. I touched my lips and imagine his lips on mine.

            I now know happiness and I can’t wait for my date on Friday.
