Chapter Four

            The week went by fast and nothing interesting happened. It’s now Friday afternoon and I have 4 hours to get ready. Nikki is being a clothes commentator. She’s here to help me pick out an outfit to wear. I want to look good and I definitely need help.

            “Nope too ugly” she made a comment about the fifth outfit I tried on. I threw myself on my bed. “This is hopeless, this is the fifth outfit and it’s ugly.”I said burying my face with my arm. I felt her get up and walk around. “How about this” I got up. “I love it” I snatched it from her. I went into my bathroom to change.

            “Awesome you look like a rocker chick. I remember you used to dress like that before in middle school. Let’s do your make up.” She sat me on my desk chair. “Close your eyes.” I did as told. The eyeliner felt cool on my eyelids.

            “Now let’s do your hair. Keep your eyes closed and let me work my magic.” I sighed but agreed. After about 20 minutes she was finally done. “Open your eyes” I opened my eyes slowly. I haven’t seen this girl in three years. The girl who wore black skinny jeans, band t-shirts, high tops and black eyeliner. “Wow” I couldn’t express what I felt in many words. “Remember her” Nikki said. “Yeah, thank you “I hugged her tightly. 

            “Samantha, Zack’s here for you” I heard my mom call from downstairs. I looked at Nikki. ”He’s early.” She said. I looked at my clock on the wall. “No, I’m late.” I yelled at Nikki. How could four hours go by so fast? Both Nikki and I ran down the stairs. I almost died by missing a step luckily Nikki caught me. How embarrassing would that have been? “Where is he?” I asked my mother. “He is talking to matt in the living room” she said.  “I’m going to go. Call me and tell me everything tonight when you get back.” I nodded closing the door behind her.

            “Zack, I’m ready” I walked into the living room. Both my brother and he got up as soon as they heard my voice. “Wow” they said in unison. I laughed at them. “You look pretty” he smiled. “Zack keep your hands to yourself if you know what’s good for you” Matt threatens him. “Matt!” both my mother and I yelled at him. “Alright” He said. “Mrs. Sanders what time does she have to be home?”Zack asked my mother. I like how respectful he is with my mom. If my dad was home from his business trip he would have scared him off or have a lock the zipper of his pants. “Well Zachary the latest 11:45. Have fun but not too much fun” He nodded and I glared at her. “Bye” I said grabbing Zack’s hand dragging him out the door. Jesus, why do they have to be so embarrassing?

            “My cousin let me his car” he showed me the keys. He opened the door for me. What a gentleman. “Thanks” I said getting in. He started the car and started to drive. He asked me a lot of questions like what your favorite color is and what your favorite animal is. He was determined to know everything about me. He ran out of questions and awkward silence filled the car.

            “Can I ask you something” I said breaking the silence. “You just did” I rolled my eyes. I hate when people do that. It’s annoying.

            “Sorry… uh sure go ahead.” He laughed. “Why… did you” this was hard for me to ask. “Why did I what?” he asked because I didn’t finish my question. “Why did you ask me out? I know that you said you liked me but why me out of every other girl?” I asked.

            “Because I thought you were the only girl worth going after.” He said. “Aw, that is so sweet of you. I’m glad I said yes to you.” His smile made me melt and I could feel my checks turn red so I turn to face the window. “You look adorable when you blush” I laughed. “Thanks” I said back. He grabbed my hand and it started to get sweaty. Why was I so nervous, I see him every day and I have known him for years? Could I be falling for him hard? Even though my brother said Brian was no good for me I still like him but Zack might make me forget him. I hope he does I need to get Brian out of my head and out of my heart.
