Chapter 7: Wind's Introduction to CHB

Percy's POV

It was half torture. First, Tyson. I was...ashamed of being his brother. There! I said it! Happy?

And then there was Wind. Wind was an okay brother. He respected boundaries, etc. However, something happened with him instead. Suddenly, he was the cool guy who was friends with Time, and could beat up the bulls easily, but had the misfortune of being Tyson's brother. Me? I was just the poor guy who had a monster brother.

"He's not my real brother!" I protested whenever Tyson wasn't around. "He's more like a half-brother on the monstrous side of the family. Like ... a half-brother twice removed, or something."

Nobody believed me. 

I have to admit, I was half mad at my father, have okay. He got me two new brothers, but one of them was a monster. I felt like a joke.

Wind offered to make a chariot with him, and Annabeth joined in, if a bit reluctant.  

Wind's POV

One day, I saw Percy sulking in the cabin.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

Percy explained that he got into a fight with Annabeth. I offered to spar with him to make him feel better, and he graciously agreed.

"Don't hold back on me," Percy warned.

I smiled, "I wouldn't have it any other way."

Campers gathered to watch the fight. I didn't know how well I'd do. I was expecting to loose, given Percy's reputation, but then again, I'm still good in a fight.

The fight began. I waited for him to strike, and did my manoeuvre and struck him in the back. When he was knocked forwards, I struck from above and moved out of the way. Percy moved again. I took out my grappling hook and began to swing it, taking strikes at safe distances. I even grabbed his weapon, Riptide, with it, but simply threw it at him which he caught. No point if he's defenceless.

Though...I won anyway. Apparently that's an achievement? Apparently?

Percy's POV

After the inevitable defeat, which Wind seemed confused about, we all decided to do our own chariots, with me and Tyson working together.

Wind was grinning when he said that.

"Thank you Four!" he exclaimed. "All your techniques is gonna pay off! MWAHHAHAHAH!"

He had dashed off, leaving the rest of us kinda staring at him.

Wind's chariot was weird. It was red and white, and pegasi manned the chariot. I probably should've done that. Wind floated above the track, and Tantalus didn't say a word. He took out a baton, and conducted to nothing.

The race soon began, while the birds were making me nervous. For some reason, Wind's chariot raced around everyone. Every now and then, Wind would conduct, and the pegasi would speed up again.

I wasn't sure what he was doing, not at all. That's when he finished both rounds, tied with Clarisse, when the birds attacked. Wind dropped off the chariot, thinking hard. He was dodging the birds, who were trying to attack him.

"So! Are these one of your greek thingies?!" Wind exclaimed over the noise.

He drew a boomerang and shot it. Birds exploded, but it wasn't enough. Birds kept coming.
