The trail was long.
Her feet dragged on, keeping the pace steady.
Where was she even going?
She wish she knew.
All she knew was that she wanted to escape.
Escape from a world that was holding her in a cage of her own emotions. It began long ago when she first met the person of her dreams. He was tall, blond haired and handsome.
Though, they were never friends.
That's what hurt the most, she would say to herself as though it was a justification.
Truthfully, that's all she wanted. A friend that she could talk to about anything and there not be any feelings attached. That want was around for years.
She began to grow more and more confused at her own feelings.Who was she?
Who was he?
She was the borrower of his walls, and he was the one who lived in the house.
A solid divide of a potential friendship caused by fear of so many levels. What could she do but merely watch from afar, thinking about how lovely it must be to so humanly?
He was so kind, and heartfelt. He cared about everyone with an earnest heart that seemed so bizarre to her.
When he would throw a party or a gathering, he would always make sure everyone was included in a conversation or activity, and if someone was off to themselves, he would join their side and talk.He was just so perfect.
What could she do to gain his attention? How could she be friends with this person she had been observing for years? What could she do..?
Her feet continued to drag as she walked out of the house and onto the porch, looking out to the forest just beyond the fence line. Where would this path lead?
She took a heavy breath in and released it as she hopped off of the cement and onto the freshly mowed lawn.As she walked still, she turned one last time to the house with a sad expression on her face even though she had a smile.
It wasn't worth staying anymore. She felt as though she wanted to leave and never come back.. But it didn't feel right to do so.She stood there, her smile breaking as tears began to slip from her eyes.
Is this how she really felt?
She never even spoke to him, but he meant so much to her?Why did it hurt this much to leave a person who never seemed to know you existed?
She took another breath in and looked up at the house once more, her eyes widening at the sight.
There he stood in the door frame, staring down at me with a soft gaze.
Why didn't he seem shocked by my appearance?"Leaving so soon?"
His voice was so calm.
Had he always known of me.?
