  "Micheal!! I'm back!" I shouted out, standing at the edge of the forest. In front of me lay a massive lake that seemed to go on for miles. Then he, Micheal, lifted his head from the top of the oak trees from across the lake. I couldn't help but giggle and wave. He smiled back before disappearing back into the trees.
  He seemed to disappear for a long time, making my smile from earlier begin to fade. It only lasted for a few minutes until I heard a laugh from behind me. Instantly my smile came back as I twirled around on my heels. There he sat. My giant best friend, Micheal. He seemed to be nearly 40 feet tall.. though I haven't tried to measure him.
  "What's up?" Micheal smirked, reaching forward as if to pet my head, but I quickly moved out of the way. He frowned slightly, sitting straight again.
  "You know the deal." I re-explained sheepishly smiling back at him as I rubbed the back of my neck. After a moment, Micheal nodded sadly.
  Throughout the years of us knowing each other and hanging out... I always had one rule. He was never allowed to touch me, no matter what.
  "So what are we doing today?" Micheal perked up less than a moment later, pulling his head out of his distracting thoughts. A smile rose on my face and I quickly held up my backpack full of tools and random wood planks I had found.
  "Fort building!!"

  Several years have passed since those days. I got older and headed to the forest less and less. I missed not being busy, but there wasn't much I could do about it, yet throughout the busy schedule, I tried to find some days to visit Micheal. We would talk about everything, of course he'd mainly listen from the outside of my old, feebly structured fort. He was definitely more of a listener, which I didn't hate. I was more of a talker, so it worked out fine.
  Today however, was a special day. It was my 17th birthday! Which meant once evening rolled around, I would have the rest of the weekend to spend out in the forest with him.
  I woke with a smile, quickly got dressed, grabbed my phone and rushed to the door. As soon as I set my hand on the door handle, my mom stopped me.
  "Where are you headed off to, Jas?" She asked from behind me. I turned around to see her smiling at me, with a paper bag held securely in her hands. I couldn't help but smile back as I wrapped my arms around her to give her a hug.
  My mom hugged me back, before pulling away and holding out the bag for me.
  "Happy birthday Jasmine." She waited with a patient smile for me to take the bag. When I did, I hesitantly opened it, a new smile spreading on my face. I reached into the bag and pulled out a sliver, crystal necklace.
  "Thank you, mom! It's amazing!" I exclaimed. My mom just laughed, a sadness tainting it. I embraced her with another hug, waving my goodbyes, then left.
  I was meeting with my friends for a whole day of 'fun', and I didn't want to be late, so I left quickly, making sure to put my necklace on.
  Soon, I met up with my friends at the Cornerstone Bakery. We hung out there for an hour or so, but then decided to stop at the mall and go shopping.
  Though.. throughout the whole day i was thinking of Micheal..
  It didn't feel the same as usual though. It was like that was the only thing I was looking forward for the day. It was like he was just constantly on my mind and it wasn't like I could talk to anyone about him because no one even knows he exists.
  "Jas! Hello?" One of my friends snapped her fingers in front of my face to get my attention, instantly snapping me out of my thoughts.
  Everyone was looking at me with confused expressions as though they were waiting for me to speak.
  "You haven't taken a sip of your boba. Is everything alright?" She, my friend Aura, asked with a concern in her eyes.
  "Oh! Yeah-" I started, looking at the drink in my hands. "I forgot I had it I guess."
  "Are you sure?"
  I hesitated to respond.. I knew I could trust them with anything but I didn't want to admit having a friend that was a giant. I bit my lip and tried to think.
  "I dunno.. I've just been thinking a lot I suppose." I started, hesitating once again to continue. "Of... a boy-"
  With that Aura's face lit up as well as the other two friends did.
"There's a boy-? Who is he? When and where did you meet him-?" Aura was quick to questioning but i quickly shut her down.
"He's just a childhood friend.." I spoke softly, then took a semi deep breath. ".. but he's been on my mind all day, and I don't know why."
  My friends didn't give me an immediate response but instead looked at one another briefly.
  "Well.. have you ever considered that you might like him.? Like, like like him?" Aura asked.
  The words sunk in kind of like rocks in the stomach. The answer was obviously yes, but I was afraid of him touching me since he was a giant. He could easily hurt me and not intentionally do so.. My fear seemed too great for that to ever happen.
  "Are you afraid?" One of my other friends asked out of the blue. My eyes met hers and I couldn't help but nod.
  "Well.. i think you should go for it, even if it may seem terrifying, because you never know what the relationship could be like until to attempt to have one. He might like you back?"

~~~
  As I drove home, I couldn't help  but think about what my friends said. I wondered if I should say something or even confess my feelings. How would things be after that?
  Then an idea dawned on me.
  In a rush, I quickly got home, practically throwing myself into the house and got myself into clothes for a forest hike. I said my hellos to my mom and told her I'd be back in a bit before I ran out into the forest.
  Once I got to our meeting place, I clambered up into the fort, my heart pounding more than normally. Was I actually going to do this?
  "Micheal!! I'm visiting!" I shouted, tossing my backpack to the side of the room before opening the curtain. As soon as I did so, I was face to face with Micheal's. He laughed a bit at my startled expression, but I stayed quiet stuck in my thoughts instantly.
  "Is something wrong.?" He asked less than a second after noticing my pale face. My heart was beating so fast, I felt like I was going to pass out, but I swallowed it down and gave him a bright smile.
  "Just startled." I said, trying not to seem shaky. I took in a sharp inhale before running back down the stairs  of the fort so I could stand on the ground in front of him. For a moment, I stood trying to catch my breath before looking up at Micheal then I held my hand out towards him as though I were expecting something. He seemed confused by the gesture so he just simply tilted his head.
 "Gimme your hand.?" I asked, still holding my hand out. Even though my anxiety was high, I kept it invisible. His brain seemed to stop working, as though me asking for his hand was an unknown asking, but he quickly shook himself out of it and held his hand out towards me. I hesitantly set my hand on his finger and gave him a hand shake. I looked up at him, and saw his eyes begin to brim with tears. I quickly let go, and began to panic.
  "Ahh.. I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean to make you sad-" I started, backing up and stuttering over all my words. Micheal just laughed as a few tears slid down his cheeks.
  "You didn't do anything wrong.. I don't know why I'm crying.. I guess I never thought this would ever happen.." Micheal smiled and wiped away the stray tears. "I guess.. I've just been waiting for you to trust me for so long.. I forgot that it could actually happen."
  I felt bad all of a sudden. I hadn't ever considered it to be a thing of trust for him..
  "Why today.?" He asked, tilting his head once again. I paused, staring at his eyes with anxiety filling up inside of me again.
  "Ah.. well.. I wanted to tell you something.." I started, clearing my throat and taking a few steps forward.
  "I... think I like you. no, I know I do." I stated, looking down at the ground at first, but didn't hear a response and looked up again. Micheal was frozen in place staring at the ground beside me, totally not even in the same reality as me it seemed like. Brain.exe had stopped working.
  "Micheal-?" I asked, waving my hand in the area I thought he might be looking, but still he said nothing and simply slowly laid himself backwards on the forest floor.
  "Sorry, Imma need a minute to process what i just heard." He stated barely above a whisper. I snickered a bit by his reaction and ran up to where he had laid his head. He was now staring up at the sky, his eyes focused on the blue. I sat down in the dirt, messing around with the grass in await of his response.
  "You know.. at first I was going to ask what you meant.. but it's pretty obvious." He spoke softly with a slight laugh in his voice at the end. His eyes turned to look at me. He didn't say anything at first but then turned all the way over to lay on his side, still looking at me.
  "I like you too. I have for a while now." He stated, a smile on his face. My eyes widened a bit at his words and I looked up at him now, a smile forming on my face. He reached his hand up, over my head, then spoke. "May I?"
   I nodded. He hesitated but soon gently pet my head and rubbed my back, his soft smile still resting on his face.
  "You're adorable."
