In the kingdom of Streblow, there was a Prince named Dust. Dust never cared about anything, even his parents, the King and Queen, would call him heartless to others. Dust still didn't care, he did however, when he was told he was to be the king the day he turned 16.
-In Dusts room-
"HOW ARE YOU SO CALM ABOUT THIS!? YOU HAVE LESS TIME THAN ME!" Dust yelled. "Oh, Calm down, it's not the end of the world," said Violet. "Vio, you don't realize how bad this is for me!" Dust continued to yell. "I really can't tell if you are worried about being in charge of your kingdom or the blood poison thing," said Violet. Dust was still ranting about how bad the situation was. "DUST YOU NEED TO REALIZE YOU ARE MAKING THIS WAY HARDER THAN IT HAS TO BE!" Dust stopped and stared at his friend, Vio almost never got angry and even when he did, he would never yell. Dust had nothing to say. "Now if you are done being childish, I need to go" Vio stated as he left to the door, "and Dust- I expect to see you in my kingdom tomorrow" and with that, he left.
The next day, Dust went to his friend's kingdom. "So, you're just going to just let yourself get trapped by this title?" Dust said. Vio sighed "I did not invite you here just for you to make this seem like the worst thing ever! Maybe some people actually want this! People that aren't heartless like you!" Dust was in shock. He never actually cried so he just sat there, wide-eyed at his friend. Vio just left, with no regrets of what he just said. Dust was sad but he couldn't leave, or he would be somehow more heartless than people thought he already was. He teleported to the main ballroom of the castle, but nobody noticed because he didn't want anybody to notice. As he saw his "Friend" walk to the front of the room. He didn't pay much attention to the event, he just wanted to leave. So, he did, He would just deal with his parents tomorrow.
"HOW COULD YOU LEAVE!?" Yelled the Queen. Dust didn't speak, He thought it was best not to make his mother angrier. "13 DAYS AND IT WILL BE YOU" she continued. "SHUT UP! I DON'T WANT TO BE REMINDED OF THAT!" The prince yelled back. "WHY ARE YOU SO UNGRATEFUL! YOU GET TO RULE AN ENTIRE KINGDOM AND YOU ARE ACTING LIKE IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!" the Queen screamed in reply. "IT MIGHT AS WELL BE!" and with that being said, Dust stormed out of the room.
It is now February 8th, 'Two days until misery, oh wait, that's my life' Dust thought. He threw a pocketknife to the target on his wall. "DUST GET DOWN HERE!" The Queen called. "WHAT DO YOU WANT OLD HAG?!" Dust called back. Silence filled the castle. The silence was soon broken by a knock. "Dust? May I come in" said the voice outside the door. He stayed silent for a second but answered. "I guess-'' Part of him hoped it would be one of the only people in the castle who didn't think of him as a heartless monster. He was right, standing in the doorway, a slim figure stood. "Dust, can you come down?" Said the figure. Dust smirked at the figure. "Is that anyway to ask a prince for something~" The only thing Dust liked about being royal was the one maid, he enjoyed teasing her about the fact. "Oh my god- You're impossible to deal with," she said. Dust stood up and walked to the figure, "Ask me the right way and I will come down, Sunshine~" Dust said to her. "Nope- You can just deal with your mom- it doesn't affect me in any way" she said, Crossing her arms. Dust rolled his eyes and crouched down slightly, "You look really childish right now "he stated. "Funny cause you're really childish" she said. "Well, what are you going to do about it~?" he cooed. He then felt a tight grip on his forearm. "I can drag you down the stairs. That's what I'm going to do about it." She said, as she started dragging him down the halls. "Let go of me." Dust demanded. "That's no way to talk to your only friend." The maid said. Dust stopped trying to pull away from her, with a saddened stutter he spoke, "D-Dawn-" The maid stopped walking and turned to him, "Yes Dusty?" "C-can you please let me go-?" Dawn was shocked at how sad she had made the 'Heartless' prince. She let go of him and gave him a hug. "I'm sorry. I didn't think you would get this sad about it" she said. Dust pushed her away and walked the other way.
'Todays the day' Dust thought with sorrow. "Dust," a voice said with sadness. "What?!" Dust said, turning to the voice. He soon found himself not angry, but sad. Dawn was in front of him, her hand reaching up to the side of his face. "Calm down" she said, in the same soothing voice she normally had. Dust took a breath, "But I-'' The maid put a finger to his mouth. "No, Today is supposed to be a happy day, It pains me to see you sad." She said, moving her hand back to the side of his face, she smiled at him. But her smile soon faded as she felt something fall on her hand. "Dust-" She tried to say, but she stopped herself. She didn't want to make him sadder than he already was. A few minutes passed as the two were standing there, "I have to go, I'm sorry Dust" said Dawn, as she stepped away from the soon-to-be king. She walked to the door in silence, but before she left, "I know you are sad about this, but please come down at 7" and with that, she left.
